Solicited me for tax preparation services through an acquaintance - then he filed taxes prior to review, approvals, my consent -or-signature using Turbo Tax and computerized submissions. 

I became aware that taxes were filed and false data was submitted after Department of Revenue notified me of the errors made on report and that they were conducting an audit. 

I contacted Mr. Anthony Gonsalves for a copy of my taxes and he avoided meeting with me or sending anything to me until I informed him of the audit.  After two weeks I got a PDF just in time for the deadline to respond. 

Preparer did not supply me with a copy of my taxes until I provided him with a letter of the notice - then he took a 10 day vacation to Florida and failed to provide and services to amend my taxes.

He monitored my account for payments from IRS and insisted I was getting some huge return and that I owed him hundreds of dollars. 

After verbal abuse from this guy and threats I had no choice but to file an identity theft affidavit to submit my own taxes and nullify his accounts.  I immediate called Turbo Tax to request a record of activities and because he filed electronically under his account had no access to any information he provided.  However Turbo Tax notified me via email of my concern for a record to file with my affidavit and flagged my account.

I had no choice but to go to the IRS and file my own taxes with an affidavit of identity theft -Form 14039-because he filed a Schedule C instead of a simple 1040 taxes as required.  The schedule C had false information and the local office does not correct Schedule C.  I would have been forced to pay hundreds to correct Mr. Gonsalves mistakes and I am still not sure when I will be in the clear. 

Even after contacting him to file the 1040X I got excuses that his computer had a virus and more avoidance and verbal abuse and degrading treatment.

Local Tax Offices are not eager to help resolve these issues either.  It took three trips to them before I got the right advice and support and that was not without being consistent.

Beware of greedy preparer who will make your life difficult just to pad their own pockets.

Especially when they do not list their name or services as the preparer of your taxes.

Do not give this guy any money until you see your returns and authorize them.  Put any and all request in writing (email or Msg).  My emails and his text messages provide ample documentation for the affidavit.  So make use of them by copying any MSG or text from your phone to your email.  Be your own best detective.  And as I always did in the past – listen to your gut and beware of promises when it benefits others and not yourself.
