We called a place that we found over the Internet called Appliance Master (www.atlantaappliance.com) to come out and fix our dryer. The dryer was running fine but it was not heating up. We figured that the filters just needed to be cleaned. The representative over the phone told us that it would be a free estimate, then if we decided to use their service we would have to pay for the repair. But if we did not use their service, there would be a $10.00 charge for the repairperson to come out (even though the Internet quoted $7.95). They stated that the person would be here in between 3pm-5pm, he showed up at approximately 6:15pm. He came in and took the dryer apart, then stated that we needed a fuse which would cost $125.00. We knew that something did not sound right about that so we decided not to use them. He asked for the money, but he did not have change. So my husband and I began looking for change. As we were doing that, I noticed that the man was making a lot of noise back behind the dryer before closing it. We gave him the money and he then left.
Immediately after he left, we tried turning on the dryer to see if we could fix it on our own. The dryer did not turn on. I called the company back telling them that the person that they sent broke our dryer completely and that he needed to come back out to fix it. The lady said that they do not put the appliances back together and if the repairman were to come back out, they would have to charge us $55.00 up front. I explained to her that I only wanted him to put the part back on the dryer and she began to rant and rave before hanging up on me. I called back and got an even ruder man. He began to insult me and tell me that they would not do anything for me. He then hung up on me. I called back hoping to get someone a little nicer, but ended up with the same man. I asked him for their tax id number so that I could report them. He began to get sarcastic and stated, Do you want my SSN? Do you want my bank account number? Do you want my date of birth? He told me not to call back and hung up on me again. Infuriated, my husband and I looked to see if we could fix the dryer. After taking a closer look, we saw that the man that was here cut one of the wires in the back of the dryer. My husband was so furious, that he tried to call. He spoke to someone who asked him Is your brain not working? This is the worst company that we have ever encountered. We paid $10.00 to get insulted, verbally abused, and misled among other things. This company does not need to be in business because of their unethical practices.
