I spent 4 and a half years on Active Duty, I was an excellent soldier. I was such a great soldier that I spent the last 2 years as the Colonels Secretary. When my contract ended, I signed with the national guard. They promised to change my job, give me an affiliation bonus, and pick my unit. well guess what! when i returned to Florida, they kicked me into a different Unit! they told me I had to stay a cook! I received NO BONUS!

It pissed me off so bad, I wrote Congressman Ander Crenshaw, oh sure, he made contact with them in a timely manner, his secretary calls me up and says: I'm so sorry Specialist E-4(p) the (p) is for promotable to Sergeant in the US Army, Sorry you didn't get the job you wanted, but you still have to drill! goodbye! so, I refused to drill because of breech of contract, so now the national guard demoted me to PFC! can you believe that sh**! after serving my country! now I am in the IRR, and don't even care anymore! Thanks! HOOAH!

misinformed?

AUTHOR: Parker - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 28, 2006

hey steve basic training in the army is 9 weeks, i dont know where the 8 came from, and every soldier in the army will tell you your WTC is an insult and branch cross overs should be subjected to what every other soldier is. I dont care about your disability, you may have earned it i dont know and im not questioning its integrity. Im saying do NOT claim the Army, do NOT claim you were deployed with them. There are alot of soldiers who died serving the Army in Iraq, soldiers that wore an Army uniform and lived through the Army corp values, soldiers who earned their uniform from GRADUATING and COMPLETING U.S Army Basic Combat Training. They dont deserve their Army's name to be soiled by a "WTC" fall out who claims to be a soldier.

Parker, its WTC, and not a joke, Actually harder than IET.

AUTHOR: Steve [Not A Lawyer] - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 26, 2006

Parker,

WTC is 5 weeks long where you get everything the IET soldier get in 8.

And because of my prior 9 years and being a prior NCO, it was training enroute.

Keep in mind, I did desert shield from before it ever hit the news, until it was desert storm and over with. I have a vague idea of whats going on.

And, my injuries were not all caused in WTC, they were aggravated injuries from my first nine years. L-4, L-5, S-1 destroyed as well as both knees and one ankle. That's the 30% which is being re-evaluated right now. And, FYI..I wasn't just some flunkie retard in the USAF. If you only knew.

Nasiriyah

AUTHOR: Parker - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 26, 2006

steve,in regards to your question i was in Nasiriyah at LSA Adder from January 05 to december 05 ask robert where that is, im sure he knows. and you said you immedietley got deployed and were injured, going to WLC (which is a joke) is not being deployed. The CDL remark was towards you accusing people of lying about their CDL because you stated it didnt exist until 94'.

Parker, I went back in specifically to go to Iraq. Where were you?

AUTHOR: Steve [Not A Lawyer] - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 25, 2006

Parker,

I joined a unit that was already slated to go to Iraq before I went back in at 41 years of age and after being out 11 years.

I was injured in the 3rd week of WTC, which is the basic training/re-orientation for prior service. It is really no different than basic training as far as the physical aspect, only a little more respect verbally as we were all prior NCO's and some of us actually outranked or instructors.

And, like Robert, my military drivers license qualified me to drive everything with wheels, so i too, was grandfathered.

Each state, from what I found out implemented the CDL program on their own, until the mandatory deadline by the federal government. Therefore what happened in 1991 in one state, may not have happened at that same time in another state. My notice was a final notice according to the DMV.

I have not seen Steve change his story once

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 24, 2006

He's been explaining he was a retread and got injured. Same story every time. He gets 30%, and if he's married, that alone entitles him to some extra bennies from the VA.

My disability is 10%, and I really only got it because I was tired of a long term injury I recieved, but never bothered with. I got my disability 15 yrs after I got out. Mine will go up as time goes by, but I did save the taxpayers over $15K by waiting so long.

As for the 1991 CDL...I got out with a Class-A license. That was in 1991. My military license covered everything with wheels(no wings), and was accepted by NC with a road test for the Class-A. In 1992, everyone with a current Class-A was grandfathered in for the NEW CDL. I would say Steve is correct in this matter. There were no CDL's in 1991. They came about in 1992 with the new year.

steve...

AUTHOR: Parker - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 24, 2006

steve, didnt you say in the other post you made it 10 days out in army boot camp before you were injured and chaptered out? didnt you say you WANTED to go to iraq but never did?

im not supporting the poster by any means, i agree her claim is laughable but you parade around this site acting as the ambassador of knowledge and you tell several different stories, so correct yourself before you correct someone else.

And lastly im pretty sure everyone knows about stop loss, except you. But then again we didnt even have CDL's in 1991 either did we? theres an excellent example of the chair force at work

Cynthia, I know the regulations

AUTHOR: Steve [Not A Lawyer] - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 22, 2006

Cynthia,

I know the regulations. I have served in the USAF,USAR, and the OK ARNG. I have more than double the active duty time you had. I served in two different periods, 11 years apart.

You sound as if you are very immature. And the Air Force will play the same games with you as the Army. They are all the same in that respect.

I started in the USAF and was forced out during Clinton's drawdowns. There was a freeze on retraining and relocation. My AFSC [MOS] was drawn down, as well as my base, and command. I had nowhere to go but out.

Then, 11 years later, I was contacted and offered a chance to come back in. I did. I was accepted by the ARNG and then recruited to Active Duty from the Guard. I immediately got deployed and injured. I now am disabled with a 30% VA rating.

keep in mind, the USAF will only take you in at your highest rank if you have a transferrable skill that equals a 5 level in the Air Force. Or your rank would be effective after training in a new field. Thats the way they did it with me.

I had a line for SSGT when I got ot in 1994. I had to give that up when I went back in, as I did not have a transferrable skill. My guard unit took me in as a CPL with a SGT slot waiting for me after school, although when I went Active Duty, they put me through school as a SPC with a SGT promotion promised after graduation.

SSGT to CPL to Spc back to SGT. I know all of the rank games.

Who is crying

POSTED: Friday, December 22, 2006

For one thing Robert, it seems like your quite the cry baby if any... so waaaahhh back at you. You just wasted my time reading over your boo h*o story.

Thanks Marc for your comment..Mahalo..

And as for Steve. For one, My contract in the army (active duty) was for 3 years, Lets remember there was a stop loss in affect by our president which caused every soldiers ETS date to change when we were deployed. Go ahead and look it up!

And FYI Steve, I was just offered to join the Air Force, being prior military with the rank that I held on Acitve Duty. Maybe you should read up on more of the regulations before you start to judge anyone.

#6 Consumer Suggestion

There is much more to Cynthia's story.

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 21, 2006

Cynthia,

The first thing that is confusing is the 4.5 years you spent on active duty. I have never seen a 4.5 year contract.

Keep in mind that the FL ARNG is NOT the US MILITARY. It is a STATE organization. The reason you got demoted was your refusal to show for your scheduled drill, in lieu of a dishonorable discharge.

You had an avenue of appeal with the FL ARNG regarding your assignment. You could have fought the breach of contract in the proper manner and gotten it resolved. You could have showed up, gotten your promotion to E-5/SGT and moved into another job where there was an E-5 vacancy.

I have been through this more than once. It happens. Then you deal with it and move on.

FYI..You are most likely now ineligible for promotion, or retention after your current service obligation.

That's Robert, straight to the point.

Cynthia, don't worry about Robert, he just has a nasty habit of telling the truth.

I think most people could tell stories about being used in way other than their contract says, that's just military life.

By the way, being an army cook is a thankless job, so thank you and I thank all those cooks out there. You'll never know how much it means to a grunt to eat warm food once in a while.

Lucky they didn't toss you in the brig

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 19, 2006

"I spent 4 and a half years on Active Duty, I was an excellent soldier. I was such a great soldier that I spent the last 2 years as the Colonels Secretary."

When I was in, the only prerequisite for being the CO's "secretary" was a pretty face, and a good figure. It still is. Go to any Headquarter's building, in any branch. Find the ugly one. Don't bother looking...she ain't there.

"I refused to drill because of breech of contract, so now the national guard demoted me to PFC! can you believe that sh**! after serving my country!"

WAAAAAH! They breached nothing. All military contracts have clauses that allow them to screw you over. I was supposed to go to the Naval Academy "prep-school" and then enter the Academy after 2 yrs. Mine specified I would graduate as a 1st Lt in the USMC. That never happened. Beirut became the "national emergency" that cancelled that PART of the contract. Not the entire contract, just the PART that was to MY benefit. I could have enlisted with a guarantee of SGT in 2 yrs, with nothing else required, but I figured being in the Officer Corps was better. No biggie. I did my job, and rose in the ranks.

Stop crying over nothing.
