They called me via phone first. So I had some spam caller call me- claiming to be from ARS- account recovery services. They told me I had 24 hours to take care of an old debt or I would be served with court documents. So I asked what it was. They sent me an email (posted) With my last four of my social, and info but the address is wrong. I was suspicious. I asked what the debt was for- they said an old Citi bank loan I opened in 2006 as stopped paying in 2012. I have never done any banking with Citi Bank! I thought maybe someone used my info. They called Over and over the next day. Asked me to settle my debt. I asked how to take care of it and they said credit card or debit card immediately.

I started asking why there was no info on the letter about the company. Or how I contact Citibank about the loan. They said google and find it yourself. (Attitude?) I grew very suspicious. She said my loan was already in collections for 10 years ( I opened it in 2000 and stopped paying in 2008- way different than before) I called Citibank and verified. They had no loans with my social attached anywhere. Called back the company who kept calling. The man was very adamant that he knew my info and will be using it to file charges. I asked what my full social was- and he told me the right info. He ended up hanging up on me after I laughed at him saying it was not a real agency.

He had every excuse. The third person told me the debt was from 1999, and I never paid more than 3 months. Lol. 1-So my advice- is BE CAREFUL! They sounded legit! Recorded line statement and all. Not even foreign! 2-what should I do with this info? they have my social!!! I was a victim of identity theft last year- but it worries me someone’s trying to scam with my info. Should I call local police? I’m not sure. Be very careful. Don’t give any info on the phone. If they are calling you- they have the info - don’t verify any info by giving it out. That’s another scam!
