When I first purchased my vehicle from Art Hill Ford, I also purchased their extended warranty, which is good for 10 years or 100,000 miles.

Late last year, my car (which is a 2000 Mustang) started with a pinging sound in the engine. A week later, the transmission started slipping.

I took the car to Art Hill Ford to have it fixed, as it was suppossed to be the cheapest option for me. If I did need a new transmission, my extended warranty would have covered it (my car only had 96,000 miles on it by then).

I went to pick up my car and was unhappily suprised by what I was told: the ping in my engine was "bad gas", and they had to talk to the main company before they could replace the transmission.

In the meantime, they had "fixed" my transmission, and I had to pay a whopping $900.00 for everything they suppossedly did for repairs.

No big deal, right? I just wanted my car fixed and I figured since they were the dealership, they would know best. I took my car home and figured all was well. One day later, the pinging in my engine began again; mind you, this was from "bad gas", but I hadn't yet refilled on gas since they had fixed my car.

I took the car back to them and they told me that I must have put more bad gas in it. I explained that I hadn't put ANY gas into my car since they fixed it and made an appointment with them for the next week to bring my car back in.

During the week I waited to bring my car in, my transmission began slipping again, so when I took it in the next week, they assured me that my transmission would most likely be replaced. No such thing ever happened; they informed me that they were not going to replace the transmission, as it was easier for them (more like cheaper) to "fix it". They also, again, "fixed" the pinging in my engine (which I had to pay for a second time, even though they didn't do it correctly the first time). I had also asked them to fix my passenger side window, as when I tried to close the door, the window would pop out slightly. I paid over $100.00 for a new "piece" (which I couldn't seem to find on the car), and the window still pops out when I close the door.

The pinging started again after a week, and I know it couldn't possibly be "bad gas". I guess any gas that doesn't come from Art Hill is bad gas, if that's the case.

My car's transmission sounds horrible, yet Art Hill wouldn't do anything about it, even though I paid them to fix it AND my extended warranty should have covered it. Consequently, a month after my car was fixed, I hit the 100,000 mile mark, and they won't do anything for my car; not even on things they recently fixed.

Art Hill Ford's service is terrible. They falsely advertise their extended warranties as being wonderful, when, in fact, they are just a ruse to get you to buy something extra and spend more money than you have to. They cheap their way out of actually fixing cars and have horrible customer service on top of it all.

Art Hill Ford's repair shop is a ripoff.

my art hill experience

went to art hill to by a car
I feel i was mislead by the salesman who told me the
car i was considering purchasing was in excellent
condition with all service work done-the manager was driving
reality- tires were dryrot, brakes and rotors needed replacing
clutch gone after 6,000 miles,
paid bluebook for car because of info given to me by salesman
not the worst of it because wanted an extended warranty
and aggreed to buy a top of the line warranty 2years for 1500.
the salesman said he was new and couldnt remember all the details
but would be discussed upon payment the next day
well, i signed contract to purchase and the next day was ready to discuss
warranty. at the time of purchase was told warranty was already on the contract
that i had signed
went home to look up the warranty that was on contract and it was
the cheapest warranty that only covered things like engine block that i
could buy online for 500 dollars. also in the paperwork was a document i signed
that i dont remember signing or discussing. it says
"delivery of said car to me is made at my own risk and i will not hold
the dealer or any of its agents liable for anything that may happen to said
car at anytime in the future. there has has been no verbal understanding stated or implied and i understand all conditions of sale."
went back to complain- was told salesman no longer worked there, so...
my opinion very deseptive practices. noticed art hill actively hires aggresive salesmen
per local help wanted ad-wont be a repeat customer

Extended warranties are usually ripoffs

Warranties are no good if the warrantor decides not to honor them.
I also had a warranty at circle olds in cherrerville, In and they never fixed
my car, it was always bad. Another time I bought a warranty for a zune
mp3 player from office max and they refused to honor it. Companies make
a small profit on the actuall item they sell, its the add ons that make them money.
