This "college" has not been to helpful for me. I didn't exactly know what I was getting into and yes that is my fault. But when I have questions concerning anything other than payment they either don't respond or give me the runaround. They sent my second book in criminal justice that was photocopied. Seriously for how much I am paying! I can't even read it because the wording and charts aren't that visible. I was just wondering if any body has left the program and when you do, do they still charge you, if you stop paying does that go on your credit report? I am just concerned for my well being and the others that were not educated enough when they got into this. I am not saying that it is bad I would just to some researching (which I did not) before commiting to anything. Some feedback would be great!

How to Get Refund from Ashworth

AUTHOR: Christine - (Guam)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 12, 2005

I had similar problems with Ashworth; however, my main concern was their false advertising stating I would have "access to Criminal Justice professionals." They did not exist. Ashworth stated in their workbooks "About your Professors," however, if you contact any of their "professors" you will find out that they are not involved with or act in any way as your professor. In fact, once I investigated Ashworth's practice of misleading their students, Ashworth immediately stopped referring to them as "professors" and began calling them "faculty writers." I reported Ashworth for their false advertising to the GA Governor's Office, the Better Business Bureau (check out the number of complaints filed against Ashworth each year), and many other agencies interested in Internet and consumer fraud. I received a full and complete refund of all monies I paid to Ashworth along with their request that I stop reporting them. In fact, Ashworth sent me a complete refund via next-day air Federal Express (I live overseas). I had their refund in my bank within a few days of my contacting Ashworth and telling them I was on to them.

Additionally, I sent e-mails to every "professor" giving them a heads up that if they were contacted by an investigative agency, to be prepared - I was investigating Ashworth's business practices and their claim that they (the professor) were acting as my professor. Although, not one of the "professors" replied to my e-mails, they did contact Ashworth and demand that they put a stop to my contacting them and to take care of the matter.

Again, I had a full refund within days. Ashworth never even asked for their books back even though I offered. (I completed three courses). Ashworth could not get me to disappear fast enough. You may want to contact the publishing company of every textbook you received - ask for their legal department and verify that Ashworth either paid them to copy their book and/or if they even purchased the book.

I have closed down other fly-by night "colleges" for illegally using copy-write material. I would be happy to assist anyone seeking a legitimate refund from Ashworth.

I am currently seeking my masters from a fully accredited university - accredited by the Dept. of Education and eligible for federal student aid. It will cost me $15,000, however, it is taught by professors with an education in my field of study and accepted by any credible employer.
