I have been with Ashworth College for 1 1/2 yrs and have started my fourth semester. I am extremely disappointed. They will not receive another penny from me. I was told my credits would transfer, I was told that they had qualified teachers to help me with any questions, I was told you could finish your degree in as little at 9 months, I was told I would receive an actual degree, all of which are lies. At the beginning, in my first semester, everything went smoothly. My books came on time and my tests were graded on time. During my second semester things moved a little bit slower, but I let it go. Then on my second semester exam they took their sweet time grading it. On my third semester I called for help. NO help!! They said someone would need to call me back. 1 month later someone called me back! Then it took them 2 months to grade my third semester exam! I was extremely upset and called several times. Plan to sit on the phone for 30 minutes before getting anyone. Then in the beginning of my fourth semester I called for help again, this is the response I got,"I can't help you, what you need to do is go and buy an intermediate accounting book from Barnes and Noble" I then asked her if there was someone else that could help me, she then said she would have to find someone and that they would have to read that chapter in the book and then call me back! This put me on a rampage. I started investigating and found out about the difference between Nationally accredited vs. Regional accredited. Then called my local college and was told my credit from Ashworth are worthless, that they would not accept them.
I then also contacted other regional accredited colleges and received the same answer. I was told by one representative to drop out of Ashworth immediately and that if I would receive my diploma from Ashworth that it would say " Online Degree" and would not be an actual degree and that most employers would not accept it!
I can only say, do not enroll in ashworth college, your degree will be worthless, not to mention all of your valuable time and money.
I am going to see if there is any attorney's out there that will start a class action against this school and also call some government agents on not allowing nationally accredited schools in the united states, or at least to require that these schools put a disclaimer on their website about the difference between National and Regional accreditation.

I just tried to transfer my DETC credits to Northeast State Technical Community College in Blountville TN. And they will not accept them. I read this several months ago and hoped it was true, but it is not. I just wanted everyone to know that some of the college's on the list will not take DETC.

I am a current student of Ashworth. I became very distraught over reading many of the complaints listed here, but then I had to look at myself and my own ethics and dealings with Ashworth and they have all been positive. I'm sorry to hear about the lack of support from Student Services, but I've never encountered that problem; I have always had a returned e-mail within 48 hours and I've never been left on hold for long periods of time. As a matter-of-fact, they have a new and improved website that is very userfriendly.
Unfortunately, it is very easy to abuse the "independent learning" aspect of Ashworth, but you only get out of it what you put into it and if you are not really studying or taking your studies seriously, then it won't benefit you. As a single, working parent I'm glad to find a school that can provide this low-cost education and know that the credits will transfer.
OK, about the Transfer Credits: I too was concerned about who would accept the credits. I found this list of schools that accept Ashworth College Credits, I got this information from degreeboard (listed by state):
