Last fall when we upgraded one of the phones on our family plan, AT&T did not clearly (or otherwise) disclose the convoluted new policy that is both punitive and irrational.

After three phone calls to AT&T, we figured out that the company's new and obfuscated policy is to " take away your monthly $25/ mo discount once you're under contract". Being " under contract" is a euphemism for " we're going to now charge you $600 over the next two years to recoup the rest of the cost of your new i-phone 6".

For a communications giant, this is poor communication at best and no telling what at its worst. The money or fees is one thing; letting the general public know about this is more important. AT&T should do a lot more to be transparent about this. If there's an acceptable explanation (other than greed) they should be comfortable explains this new cost.

Eat....

AUTHOR: Tyg - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, March 28, 2015

Well because ALL the carriers got tired of eating the cost of those phones!!! And make no mistake!! YOU PEOPLE DO NOT APPRECIATE THAT!!!! The average ACTUAL cost of a smartphone is $699.00+. Meaning that while YOU pay ONLY a small percentage of the ACTUAL cost to get the phone, the carrier has to eat the FULL COST of that device. YOU lose your phone, you drop your phone, you damage your phone and EXPECT the carrier to eat the whole cost of ANOTHER phone for YOU!!! Something had to give. So NOW those costs are being passed onto the customer. If you don't like it DONT USE CELL SERVICE!!!!! I haven't had a cell phone in over a YEAR!!!! Yep it was tough. BUT!! I adjusted. The hard part was NOT looking at my phone every 5 mins to make sure I had not missed anything. Once past that, it was EASY!!!! Cellphones are NOT needed to live your life. THEY ARE A LUXURY!!!!! You PAY for luxury.
