This story does not even touch the extent of the nightmare I have experienced with this company. It cannot be put into words.

I reserved a truck with Authorized Movers for a move from Texas to Ohio. I spoke with a man named Gabriel who was quick to respond to emails and phone calls before the sale. Afterwards, when there were problems, he was never in the office, never answered his phone, never returned phone calls or emails. If I did happen to get him on the phone he transferred me immediately to someone's voicemail whose mailbox was full.

Prior to reserving the truck, I asked Gabriel if they charged for stairs, he said no. I asked him SPECIFICALLY if only my things would be on a truck, he said yes. Neither of these were true when Freedom Van Lines came to pick up my things.

I scheduled the pick up for June 12th and delivery for June 17th. Krista from Freedom Van Lines called me on June 10th to tell me that they would be picking my things up one day early. The movers came, none of them in uniform in an Enterprise truck with nothing representing the moving company other than the contracts. I asked the movers to confirm the date of delivery and they did, June 17th. I asked them for the weight certificate for the truck, not only did they did not have it, they told me to call and they'd fax it to me (he gave me no name or number to call). They left with my things saying that they would go into storage in Houston and put on a separate truck to go to Cincinnati.

On June 16th, I called Krista to get an update on where my things were, she said they hadn't left the "warehouse". She told me my things would not be delivered until the following Wednesday (June 25th). When I told her that was unacceptable, she said she'd see what she could do and call me back before she left the office. She did not. I called the office after hours and and spoke to Isaac who is apparently a manager. He was smug, unhelpful and inappropriate. After getting very upset, he taunted me, told me that he "wished he had a magic hat so he could pull a truck out and get me my things," followed by saying, "A private truck costs $10,000. Did you pay $10,000? I don't think so." He also asked, "don't you think it's important to read a contract before you sign it?" He said he'd see if he had a truck going from Texas to Ohio the next day and that he'd call me back that night. Of course, he never did. When I called him the next day, he said he was with his girlfriend, asked me how I got his phone number, and told me that I needed to call Krista at the office.

Both my mother and I have been calling both Freedom Van Lines and Authorized Movers repeatedly to find out where my things are and not only will no one tell me where my things are, they will not answer the phone or return calls.

It is now June 20th, I have nothing and I have no update on when I am supposed to get my things or where my things are located. I believe that Isaac is paying everyone lip service by saying when my things will be delivered, but every day when I call, there is some unspecified reason why it will be delayed until the next day. Again, NO ONE will tell me where my things are. They have almost $950 of my money plus thousands of dollars worth of my posessions and I cannot seem to get an answer of when my things will be delivered or in what condition they will be in when I get them. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! They WILL rip you off.

I have called the Attorney General's office, the Better Business Bureau, Texas Department of Transportation and I have sought legal services for this matter. My next phone call will be to the Dallas District Attorney's office to file a suit for theft against this company. SAVE YOURSELF A NIGHTMARE and do not use Freedom Van Lines or Authorized Movers.

And I urge those who have used this company and have had a horrible experience to PLEASE report them. Nothing will happen unless they continue to get complaints. They should NOT be in business.

I've been there with this company

AUTHOR: Mr. Steven Haddon - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 26, 2008

I received the same lack of respect, courtesy, and professionalism from employees of Authorized Movers that Cinci did. I also received the arrogance, ignorance and incompetence that was second to none! I contracted with said company for a long distance move from California to Georgia to take place all within 7 to 10 days. It had been explained that this was the only window of opportunity for me to to retrieve my belongings from this household due to the fact it was part of a divorce action which was court ordered.

A sheriff would be on hand to oversee the move, as well as several other witness. P/u was scheduled for the morning of June 28, with delivery to take place within 10 days, there after. The procedure in which these two "so called" moving professionals were packing my belongings was quite shocking to all who observed, not to mention comical. They were literally scooping up whatever would fill a box. Everything was mixed together. clothing, shoes, games, lamps, tools, books, pictures, etc: Literally anything and everything!! It was unbelievable!!! Even my fine china, stem wear, dishes, glass wear: All packed with no packing materials or correct boxes. The 2 movers admittedly neglected to put any of those materials on the truck that morning. They had no regard for my property, what-so-ever!! They knew my belongings wouldn't reach their destination intact. They just didn't care.

Oh, and the Enterprise truck that they brought, it had a broken lift on the back. If you could have only seen (as I like to refer to them as) Laurel & Hardy trying to man-handle my Lg pieces of furniture up onto the back of this truck that was 41/2 to 5 ft high, especially when they were only a little over 51/2 ft themselves. It was embarrassing to think I had hired a company with employee with the level of incompetence as these. At one point I was laughingly asked if I was actually paying for this. Of course if the situation was different, I would have sent them away, but I had no choice, and they knew it. Over the course of many moves during my career with the CG, I did learn "cover my Butt" when it came to moving companies with photos! Gotta love technology these days. They make things so small you can barely see them. This was only the pick-up, folks. There's lots more to my story but to make a long story short, 10 days came and went. 20 days came and went. Now 30 days came and went and tomorrow is the 1st of Aug and I still have no idea if I'm ever going to receive my personal property. I actually feel very violated by these people. No one will return my calls or e-mails. Go figure, huh. Steven Peachtree City, Georgia

More Lies - Do They Know What The Truth Means

Freedom Van Lines Krista's Rebuttal - A continuation of the untruths Dallas Texas

Krista has written a rebuttal and resolution of a situation which is not true. On the move to Cincinnati, I was an unfortunate witness and participant in dealings with Freedom Van Lines. The charges for the stairs were paid to Freedom Van Lines as proven by the invoice I have for the payment. On the morning of the move and several days before we received the items in question we had to contact 2 attorneys to deal with Freedom Van Lines to get the stuff delivered. As far as the weight of the shipment goes, Krista said it was not weighed but a few minutes later Isaac said we were several hundred pounds over the weight. Freedom had our money and our things They knew they had us over a barrel and acted as such. Their entire attitude was we have your stuff and your money so what are you going to do about it.

As far as the charge back is concerned, at one point Isaac refused to move us. He promised a refund of funds paid and then began to argue that Authorized movers was the one paid and not Freedom when I had the receipt he sent in front of me. Hesi agreed with 2 attorneys that the fee for the stairs had been paid. Where Krista gets off saying that the fee was waived is testament to what confabulators this company employees.

Freedom did not care about us or the move despite repeated phone calls until we filed the complaint and got the attorneys involved. They are not sorry for this debacle. They are trying to do a little cya. In addition to the unresponsive, unprofessional attitude, the repeated lack of response and late delivery of the items demanded that work clothes be purchased, that airline reservations be changed leading to bills in excess of $700, that all meals be eaten in restaurants, that day after day was spent waiting for a response or on the phone trying to contact someone leading to overage charges for the cell phones, etc. etc. etc. A response was elicited only when lawyers got involved.

Krista failed to live up to the agreement we were coerced into under duress. She promised we would have access to the driver and to her to know exactly where our things were at all times from the time of pick up until delivery in cinci. Repeated phone calls to her and the driver were unanswered. She even told me she would call me from work on a day she knew she had off. There have been so many lies. I could go on and on. Oh what a tangled web!!!

I implore anyone who decides to move to stay as far away from Freedom and Authorized as you can possibly get. We have not given up our rights to litigation in this matter. Save yourselves the trouble!! Buyer Beware!!!

#8 Consumer Suggestion

Read the contract, please!

AUTHOR: Sandra Matthews - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 06, 2008

Freedom, like all moving companies and long haul shippers, juggle partial loads to fit into 18 wheelers for cross-country moves. It is the only economic way to do it. First they pick up your things, warehouse it until they get a full load, then ship. Because they have no way of knowing exactly when they will have a full load, or exactly when a truck will be available,(weather, breakdowns, late customer arrivals, etc.) by lawful contract, they have 30 days from pick-up to delivery.

Under current gasoline prices, many movers must be as efficient as they can possibly be, and your screaming and yelling at the office people only de-motivates them to deal with you. Your things will undoubtedly be delivered within the 30-day period, but as you clearly failed to read the contract, and are openly hostile, don't expect anybody at their office to want to have to listen while you vent.

I presume this is the first time you did not use a U-Haul. As an experienced mover, I urge you to read your contract, find out about the realities of shipping household goods and take an anger management class. Also be nice, buy some cool drinks and tip the off-loaders so they WANT to be good to you. To do otherwise is willfully ignorant.

I feel your pain

I understand what you went through but you're lucky and received your stuff. They picked my items up later than they did your's and I still have not received my property. I did research about moving companies and I could not find any information about them. Of course, now that I'm going through this, I have found several bad reports about them.

Gee....Who to Believe?

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 02, 2008

Are you kidding? Of course, the customer!!

Krista, if the shipper had done a dime of research on Authorized Movers, she would have seen the complaints and the fact that Authorized is a broker - meaning they give moves to less than reputable movers, like you. It's typical of you guys to offer hush money in the hopes the shipper will take down the complaint. Talk about a scam! Instead of responding, you ought to be helping the customers you can't handle right now.

To the shipper, moving is not an inexpensive venture. You get what you pay for and you paid a low price for low-grade service. Going cheap may result in the damage of your items - I for one hope that isn't the case but with a lot of companies like this, you'll find a lot of things missing or damaged at the end of the day. It's unfortunate, but there's nothing you can do at this point except wait. Under the law, they have as many as 30 days from June 17th to deliver your items to you. If they miss, it's a heavy fine ($10,000) from the DOT. If that happens, they go out of business, and then reopen with a new name, DOT number, no complaints anywhere, and no fine to pay.

RESOLUTION OF COMPLAINT

AUTHOR: Freedom - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 02, 2008

We apologize for the inconvenience caused to this customer. The customer was picked up on June 11, 2008 and was delivered on June 28, 2008. By DOT regulations, the delivery window is 3-21 business days from the first available date for delivery which was June 17, 2008. There is nothing on the contract stating that the items were guaranteed to be delivered on any specific date.

In addition to working within the terms and conditions of the contract, we compensated the customer with $400 for the inconveniences she had. Upon delivery we also waived a $150 charge for 2 flights of stairs to keep in our cooperation with this customer. Up to this point, our office has not been informed of any missing or damaged items.

The customer had an estimate for 3191 lbs at $0.51/lb with a 5% fuel charge and stairs ($75) for a total of 1751.85. The customer was charged for 3940 lbs at the same rate with a 5% fuel charge, $36 for packing materials, and $150 for stairs (with a $401 discount) which totaled to $1896. We did, however, receive a chargeback stating that the account holder does not recognize this transaction. Thus far the total cost of the move of 3940 lbs from Texas to Ohio has been $1129.

In addition, we had a guarantee between our company and the customer that she would remove her report from this website and as of today the report remains. Rip-Off Report is a private website and is an open forum for accusations, true or false, not a government website. Anybody who is concerned with the way in which we conduct business can go to www.protectyourmove.org and search for any complaints against our company.

Best Regards,
Freedom Van Lines

Support for Cici

AUTHOR: Pip - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 27, 2008

Having worked with both Krista and Isaac during my move, I can deeply empathize for you. You are 100% correct when you say that this company should not be in business. They have no sense of business ethics or professionalism. I will be receiving my insurance check from their 4th party insurance company shortly. Once that is received I plan on seeking compensation based off of their ignorance and incompetence. Their mistakes cost me a fair amount of money and I plan on moving forward with Litigation. When speaking with DOT their corporate office is based out of Los Angeles. Having them based out of California gives me several legal options to peruse. If you have the same DOT number on your paperwork you are more than welcome to join in the suit against them. In California, being Malice and Negligent voids most contracts.

Comment on Krista's rebuttal

AUTHOR: Cincimove - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, June 21, 2008

Freedom Van Lines DID NOT give me $400. They offered me $400 to take down my review, NOT for the horrible inconvenience they have caused me. The rebuttal came from a person who hung up the phone in my face when she didn't like what I had to say.

Freedom Van Lines has been everything BUT upfront with me. Details and promises change from moment to moment. They state one thing and in the same conversation will deny what they just said. Isaac said he would give me $400 to take down the review and in the next breath said that if I took it down he would be happy to give me $200. They are all completely DISHONEST, they LIE, and they are NOT to be trusted.

It is obvious that contracts mean nothing to them as Isaac told my mother that he was now refusing to move my things and that he would give me a full refund. When I asked him who I needed to talk to to get my money back he told me that he was not an accountant and that I needed to call Authorized Movers to get a refund.

I have HAD IT with these people. They should NOT be in business.

UNJUST ACCUSATIONS

AUTHOR: Freedom - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 20, 2008

Our company has a strict no-nonsense policy and are extremely upfront with our customers regarding all aspects of their move. In regards to the "rental truck," we have several long term rentals with Enterprise because our volume of moves vary from day to day. No one in our office has lied to this woman, she has been told repeatedly that her stuff has not shipped yet (within our contractual agreement with her) and that we are working diligently to ship her items. We are working on resolving this issue as quickly as possible and have informed her that we would give her a call as soon as her items are being loaded onto a trailer. When she and her mother have been calling the office, they have been told they will receive a call when the driver arrives. This customer was picked up 9 days ago and has not received her items by her earliest requested delivery date (which is not a guarantee delivery) and is upset because the salesperson at Authorized Movers gave her a false idea of a delivery date. We have explained everything in detail to the customer and her mother and have asked them to remove this report as it is not accurate in its representation of our company and of our customer service.

We charged this customer for her weight and also gave her an additional $400 discount for all the trouble they feel they have undergone in their moving experience. Sometimes, we feel it is necessary to compensate customers even if we have done everything in our power to please them and are within the bounds of contract.

If you have any questions regarding our service or the validity of this complaint, please feel free to call us at any time.
