Car Spectrum BUYER BEWARE - Hours After Purchase Check Engine Light On - Tampering Highly Likely Fairfax Virginia

Purchased a vehicle and the next morning the check engine light came on. The dealer has been uncooperative in having repairs made citing they are not covered under the warranty.

Car has been serviced 3 times in the first month of ownership at a cost of over $1300 and out of service for several days. Would have never purchased if we were aware of the mechanical problems or given a carfax report at the time of purchase.

Apparently, the car was due for an emissions back in October, but when we purchased end of December it had not been done. Likely because it would not pass emissions because of the check engine problems that we have been paying to have repaired. We still can not have the emissions done because the check engine light is STILL on.

I highly suspect that there was tampering done to the vehicle prior to our purchase to ensure the check engine light would not come on during the short test drive. If the light had been on at the time of purchase, we certainly would have left it there on the lot.

Quite the co-incidence that hours later it comes on after only having driven it about 50 miles to our home. Dealership's customer service is horrible and they refuse to assist in anyway.
