Back in 1996 or 1997 my husband (then fiance) and I were looking for our first financed car (were actually trying to finance a mini van due to growing family). We went to a nearby town known to have different lots owned by the Courtesy Auto Group.

We first test drove a mini-van off of a lot with nicer vehicles than the small one we eventually found ourselves herded to (at the time, the lot was run by Courtesy Chevrolet I believe), due to credit problems. However, we were desperate for a vehicle which would carry our little family from point to point, so we let ourselves be sucked in.

After the company found us a lender who would finance us (Reliable Credit Association of Kent, WA), they showed us a car we would qualify for - a 1990 Pontiac Lemans (we like to call it our pontiac lemons) 4 door LE.

It was a pretty little blue car with no dents, no visible scratches and the interior was almost flawless, so we thought we were getting a great deal. We werealso told it was mechanically sound. They sold it to us "As Is, No Warranty".

A few days after driving off the lot, the brakes began to grind horribly. We called the dealership where we purchased the car and they told us to take it to a Courtesy Ford located near where we live in Port Townsend, WA for repair.

Courtesy Ford in Port Townsend (which I also have a couple of problems with, but in a different report) replaced the brakes at no additional cost, but the "newer" ones weren't much better - mushy, had to press toofar down on pedal to brake etc.

A year or maybe a little more later I heard knocking in front end so I took the car in to Courtesy Ford for a PAID estimate to find what the problem was. They wound up telling me they could find no problem with the car, but tried telling me it may be shocks/struts and tried to sell me some. I said no thanks.

Husband took off front wheels a few days later and found a problem. A CV boot had a huge rip in it on passenger side. He also replaced brake pads which were worn down to nothing, no padding.

The knocking stopped for awhile, until other side started. Long story short, the car has been sitting idle and unusable due to numerous mechanical problems most of the time we have had it. We also found out shortly after buying the vehicle that the manufacturer no longer made parts for this particular car, which makes it more or less a "disposable".

Anyway, we paid our car off regardless all the problems (hoping to build better credit rating) and even received a letter from Reliable Credit stating account has been paid and offer of future financing. We even received a refund check due to overpayment, and that was the last communication from Reliable Credit or Courtesy Chevrolet or Courtesy Auto Group.

Now we would finally like to rid ourselves of this now ugly little nightmare of a car, but can't because we don't have a title. We called Courtesy Chev. and Reliable Credit recently to inquire about the title .

Courtesy referred us to Reliable Credit, Reliable Credit referred us back to Courtesy Chev. Never received a phone call back from Courtesy, after leaving a message. My husband wanted to go a different route with junking the car, but that didn't pan out because we lost our registration (I took everything out of glove box years ago to prevent theft).

Now the car just sits here collecting pollen and getting uglier every day. I realize we should have done something long ago but stupid us......
