My friend bought her first car at this place back in August 2005. She was trying to establish her credit and buy her own car. The salesman by the name of AJ at the Layton store took full advantage of her. He sold her a lemon and what I mean by a lemon in that when she test drove it home and her parents took a look at it the front brakes were worn to almost nothing, the windshield wiper blades looked like black threads hanging off the wipers and the engine light was on. Her parents took her back to the dealer and asked how it was that this vehicle was able to pass inspection and they got a lot of "I don't know's" and "Oh it was inspected 2 months ago" blah blah blah.
The dealer agreed to get the repairs done on the vehicle. Now, not even a year later the engine is blown will cost her $3000 to repair. When she first got the car she took it down and had the oil changed and her dad always helped her check the oil and fluids. I know used cars buyer beware.
So beware of this place it is obvious they don't really care for their customers, not they would ever have any returning customers either.

Automatic Car Credit was not the problem

My name is Susan and I just wanted to say that I have bought 5 cars from Automatic Car Credit over the years and have no complaints. Four of those were sold to me by A.J. I had at one time messed up one of my cars pretty badly it was a 2003 chevy cavalier and I didn't put oil in it or change the oil ever I blew the engine I had spilled soda in the window controls and shorted them out and the heater no longer worked. I took the car to them and traded it in, in 2005 I owed 10,000 on it still they gave me an amazing deal by giving me 6,000 for it and getting me into something I could put the negative equity into. It seems to me you bought one of the back lot kind of cars if it was so obvious there were issues so much so to prompt you to wonder how it passed inspection why would you then buy it? I love Automatic car credit and the deals I get there and will continue to buy my cars there.

After reading this report it appears that we did try to help this customer. Keep in mind that Utah has a safety inspection law and those inspections are performed by a state licensed inspector at a third party, independant location.
After this customer (name unknown because report was filed by a third party) made us aware of some items possibly overlooked at inspection we did, by thier admission, repair the vehicle. I will state that most dealers would have done nothing.
As far as the vehicle having majoir mechanical problems after one year it was in fact used and probably had higher miles to begin with. As a dealer can I be reponsible for vehicles a year later? How many miles was it driven? Was it properly maintained? Was a warning light ignored? When does a vehicle breakdown? It wasn't as though the engine went out a day, a week, or even a month after the vehicle was purchased.
As the owner of Automatic Car Credit I am truly sorry this customer is unhappy. We pride ourselves on the high rate of repeat customers. As my customers know I am always available to dicuss issues, problems, or just to say hi.
