Spent $150.00 which AVI refuses to refund.

Earlier this month I got a sales call from Mike at AVI in Fort Meyers, FL. Now I have a couple of AVI videos which we have found to be quite informative: the "Hybrid Systems" and the "Mastering the Mastertech" videos.

Mike proceeded to offer me some season discounted videos which he assured me would have information valuable for my technicians. At first, I didn't think that these videos would be useful, but, I talked to my techs and they told me that if they could learn any new tricks that maybe it was worth it.

So, I called Mike back and ordered "Top 10 OBDII Codes - Fix Them Fast" and "Victory over Voltage Drops". We received these two video sets about a week ago and my guys immediately viewed them in between jobs.

The result in a nutshell is that my guys told me these might be good for new techs or one (not both) of my front counter guys, but that the information was relatively simple and nothing new or unknown at all.

I called Mike and told him this, then returned the videos which AVI received today (12/20/2011).

Out of the remaining videos which looked like they might be interesting I suggested replacing them with the "TPMS" and the
"J253" videos. AVI is unwilling to do this (they don't want to offer a season discount on the videos like they did when Mike 'sold' me the other two misrepresenting them to be more than they actually are, which is basic info any journeyman tech already knows. Instead, Mike will once again up sell me these other videos for more money.

AVI's position is that they will not refund my purchase cost of information which has no value to me. They will charge me more for information which I do not yet know I will find useful.

If I pay them more money and then decide that these other courses are equally unimpressive, then I am out my original
purchase dollars and the additional dollars to buy the other videos.

I told Mike I wanted a refund. He talked to his supervisor, called me back, and told me "You have a credit on your account to use towards future purchases." I told Mike this was unacceptable that that I would post my disappointment with AVI on iATN and file a claim with the credit card I used to purchase the items I returned.

Thank you and Merry
Christmas.

BTY - You had better be sure that whatever you purchase from AVI is something you really want. Don't believe what the sales
person tells you about the quality of their information.  Of course, if all you have in you shop is beginners, and then the AVI information will probably be just what you need.
