In May of 2004, my wife rented an Avis car over the phone so that we could attend my mother's funeral. On our latest credit card bill (January 2005), there was a charge for $99.99 from TLG Travel Advantage. When I called the 800 number for TLG Travel I got the most obnoxious person on the phone. It was so bad that I hung-up the phone and called back.
The next person I spoke with said that the source of the charge was the Avis rental. When I called Avis, I was told the source of the charge was TLG Travel. However, the Avis agent did say that both are owned by the same company and that Avis agents transfer callers to TLG Travel as a "service."
My wife was absolutely unaware that she was doing anything other than renting a car from Avis. There was no service performed by TLG Travel and I have a better word for what was being done--RIPOFF!!! Absolutely no service was performed for this charge of $99.99. For this reason I will never again consider Avis for anything.
