Before I went to BA African Hair Braiding & Supply, I made an appointment. During the appointment booking, I asked them did they have the color hair I wanted at the shop. The lady said, "Yes, we have plenty, and you can buy the hair at the shop". When my sister and I arrived at the shop, they did not have the hair in the color I wanted. They offered me another color, but I wanted black.

My sister offered to take me to go get some hair, but the owner of the shop took me instead. I ended coming out of my pocket with 30 extra dollars. I had to use some of the money for the cost of the style to pay for hair(i was carrying $200). Even though the shop told me that they had the hair, made me go buy my own, I still had to pay full price for the style, which was $180.

The service in the shop was also not too pleasant. As soon as we got back from the hair place, I had to wait 1 hour after I got there. Another young lady walked in during the wait time. They started taking down her hair, gave her a shampoo, and began her micro braids before mines, even though I was there first.

Finally, a lady showed up to do my hair. It took her an additional 30 minutes to start. While she was doing my hair, I was entitled to take a break to go to the corner store. She pushed my head away with an attitude and told me to "go" in an angry voice and rolled her eyes.

I came back, and she continued to work on my hair. The young lady who came in after me had 2 people working on her head (but not much hair). I have lots of hair that is fairy long and thick and one person was working on my head. I asked her could I have a second person on my head, she pulled one of my braids by "accident" and did not answer my question.

Next, the owner asked us for payment. Due to the bait-and-switch technique used at the beginning about my hair, I was short 10 dollars. So the owner told me to go to an ATM and get the 10 dollars for her. So then, I got up and walked toward my sister and waited for her to get a braid finished. My braider got really nasty and mean and said, "Ugh! I'm waiting on you! Hurry up!" I was getting ready to tell her off until my sister said, "She's waiting for me!". Then my braider said, "Well come on!"

So here comes lunchtime. They allowed us to go get lunch and told me to go to the bank to get the $10. We decided to go to a fast food place 5 mins. away. As soon as we got to the restaurant's door, they called my sister and said, "We are ready to start again!" We ordered our food, but didn't have time to enjoy our meal. So we rushed back and they began doing our hair again.

Three hours later, I noticed that the girl that came in after me got her hair completely finished before I did. I was mad that she got out before I did, and the fact that two people were on her head. My braider wasn't even halfway done with my head. My sisters braider was almost done with her hair around lunchtime.

Two hours after that, I finally get a second person on my head - the owner. The owner got most of my hair done faster than my braider, yet I believe that I should have had two people in the first place. Then the unprofessionalism kicked in...

So some of their family entered the shop, along with 2 children. They were more worried about playing around with their family and the children. They stopped doing my hair for about 10-20 mins. They finally started again and all of a sudden, they all crowded around my chair, and started talking very loudly and dancing and playing around. I did not pay over 200 bucks to get service like this.

They also had a DVD going, and one of my braiders began to dance, and stopped doing my hair. She was also dancing right there in my face. I was getting more and more irritated as time went along. Then they both began to talk on their cellphones very loudly and stopped braiding my hair again while sitting there (this happened multiple times throughout the day).

My hair was finally finished after 10 agonizing hours in there. My time could have been cut shorter if they would have had the hair they said they had, had the right person doing my hair, and if they stayed professional.

All of the staff in the shop were very loud, unwelcoming, and highly unprofessional. I do not feel it was worth all of my hard-earned money on an unwelcoming experience. They ripped me off and gave me horrible service. I will never use or recommend their services to anyone.
