We lost our little dog last night. What was presented as good for him, the vet said he needed several extractions and had infection, for which she prescribed antibiotic, turned out to be a nightmare. I took him in the morning for a dental cleaning. Is this something new? I wouldn’t be a good pet owner if I didn’t take him right? Wrong. Toby weighed 9 lbs, he was nine years old.
No discussion with doctor on the day of the procedure to tell me of potential risks of being anesthesized. He came out of it, but developed rapid breathing and wheezing. His heart stopped. He was revived. He was operated on. His heart stopped 3 or 4 times total, but then the ER vet physicians felt he was brain dead. The little guy was my responsibility, and I took him to his death. For clean teeth.
The Vet, a compassionate person, and I had a long talk today and she asked me what I wanted. I said that I would have liked to have been told the risks...that my dog might die. She said, yes that she agrees and that she’ll address that. But then she said I do 5-6 of these a day with no problems, I’ve probably done 200 since the last dog died.” Okay, give me that info up front, let me choose whether I want to play Russian roulette with my dog.

Banfield Pet Hospital took my dog for the appointment I made to have him fixed. After waiting 5 hours they called and said I could pick up the dog. When I got to the store they told me that this visit was only to check the dog out for the surgery. They charged me over $200.00 although I can't remember the exact amount. I would NEVER bring either of my dogs to this RipOff Banfield Pet Hospital again.

The Medical Director called and said they usually offer $500-$1,000 when they kill an animal. I wonder if CEO J. K. Symancyk and V.P. Brian Amkraut would find that sufficient compensation for their loss?
