I had direct payroll deposit that was set up about 15 years ago.  with the economy and companies downsizing i was forced out of direct deposit and the co. i work for now refuses to direct deposit so I am being hit with $12/monthly service fee.

called BOA numerous times to have the fee removed from my account and asked them to stop charging me .. i'm living on the skids of my butt lately and that $12 can go towards a couple gal's gas & milk.  they put me on hold; come back and read me the riot act as to how i can avoid those fees:  if i'm a student, if i have a gold card...if i have this that or the other thing. end of conversation: no deal - they're still going to charge me...

1) What about an option for those on unemployment ?? like we can really afford someone to take $12/ away from us a month?  old saying:  when you take something away from the poor they almost never recover....

2) the kicker is this:  i receive minimal child support - not enough to cover BOA required $$ deposit amount; but that's direct deposit...i also deposit my pay check weekly from a p/t 1099 job i'm on right now.  those 2 deposits weekly amount to well over what they're requiring to eliminate that fee yet they still refuse to remove the fee!

i'm transitioning away from these liars & thieves ... banks make their $$ on mortgages and loans...why hit up the little people who have nothing?!

add BOA to your list of bottom-feeders and find a nice local bank in your neighborhood...so much more customer friendly and appreciative of your business. i can't wait til i'm out of there for good. i would never in a  million years recommend BOA to anyone!

thank you.

Really???

AUTHOR: Stacey - ()

POSTED: Monday, May 19, 2014

Your poor, pathetic me story is old and worn out.  You are student with children?  And unemployed?  Do you get unemployment?  Food stamps? WIC? Hud housing?  I got every benefit I could when I was laid off and finally got a part time job while finishing my post grad degree without financial aid.

I have to admit I was financially irresponsible and overdrew my account but I bounced back and now I am in the positive.  It is YOUR responsibility to take care of YOUR money - stop blaming the bank.  They are not your financial babysitter.  ALL banks charge a monthly fee! Be grateful you have a JOB!

Oh Brother...

As others have tried to explain to you banks are not charites.  If you think that people on unemployment should be given free accounts, why stop there?  People need a roof over their head so how about free housing.  People need to eat so how about free food.  Oh wait we have that now, and I can go through just about any "low income" Section-8 housing and see luxury car after luxury car belonging to people who are "unemployed" and just can't seem to find work.

Unfortunatly if you want to blame someone, blame the government.  They listened to the very vocal 5% who couldn't manage their accounts and were being charged Overdraft fees that they "thought" was unfair because they figured it was the banks responsibility to tell them when they ran out of money instead of being responsible adults.  So in turn the Government created regulations taking away this source of income from the banks.  Well they have to make it up somewhere.  So instead of it coming from the 5% of the people who refused to manage their account, it now comes from the other 95% who "played by the rules".

Oh and as for this $12/month putting you in the poor house.  Okay answer this.  Just how much is that Cable bill you have a month?  How many times did you go to a Resturant(even Fast Food) this month?  How about heading down to your local coffee house getting your favorite cup of coffee?  I bet that there is many times more than $12 you could save other ways.  Oh and don't say that you don't have cable, and haven't been out to eat in months.

If you really hate them this much why not get one of these wonderful "pre-paid" cards that are offered by dozens of banks.  Oh wait..they have fees to.  $5 to deposit, $5 monthly fee, you want to talk to someone...$2, oh you want to withdraw money at an ATM..another $5, even using the card could hit you up with a $0.25-$1 per transaction fee on some of them.  You need to talk to someone face to face...forget about it.  But heck at least they aren't the "big evil" bank who takes you for $12/month now are they.

This makes over 60 companies other posters have accused me of working for when they have no further cognizant arguement..

Not that I care if you believe it or not, I DON'T work for them or even much like them.

You failed to comprehend ANY of the points I made.

"and you're on med's ?? from big phat pharmas?  i feel sorry for you. maybe you need to change the cocktail of meds your taking and be a little more compassionate for those who 'had' and now don't have.

perhaps you're a BOA employee and just scouting this site for consumer complaints you can refute?  if so there are many many complaints about BOA ... mine is small in comparison.

i still think the fee is unfair; and yes those on limited income such as SSI...disability...unemployment ...  should also receive free checking"

You got me, big fat pharma is all that keeps me going. You have ALL the thought processes of the occupy movement people and ARE socialist in your beliefs,  Your denial is FALSE.

Any time people, such as your entitled self, get FREE service of ANY kind, others make up the difference.  Did it even register with you that banks are NOT charities and it's NOT up to them to subsidize YOU and your occupy brethern.  You may get drummed out of the movement if you aren't there to support them.

BTW, I don't really expect or want to get free services just because I'm on fixed income...it was rhetorical....oops you didn't get that either.  As the late Margaret Thatcher said: "The only problem with socialism is you soon run out of other peoples money."  Get a neighborhood third grader to explain that one to you.  Ask them to speak s-l-o-w-l-y.

No Free Service

those 2 deposits weekly amount to well over what they're requiring to eliminate that fee yet they still refuse to remove the fee

The requirement is that you have at least one qualifying direct deposit of $250 or more. Apparently you have not met that requirement.

“i'm transitioning away from these liars & thieves”

A service charge is not theft. What were the lies?

Perhaps you would consider working for free?

Here's another "kicker"..

AUTHOR: Ken - ()

POSTED: Monday, May 19, 2014

"1) What about an option for those on unemployment ?? like we can really afford someone to take $12/ away from us a month?  old saying:  when you take something away from the poor they almost never recover....

What about those of us who have to run expensive medical equipment 24/7.  Isn't that a good reason for free banking?

What about those of us subsisting on Social Security?  Shouldn't we, since we use 10 prescription meds a month get free banking?

Are you aware the Feds changed the banking rules a few years ago to accomodate whiners like you and the banks had to make up the revenue loss somewhere.  They are a FOR profit company, NOT a charity as you would like them to be.

You are likely late for an occupy sit in somewhere?  Gotta love you socialistic liberals.
