BEWARE OF THIS RIP OFF

Extremly high late payment charges even if you pay 2-3 months in advance. 35.00 for just a day to one month late. If you pay 3 monthes at a time they say they must receive a payment every month.

Avoid using Bank One credit cards or First North American National Bank. They will not forgive even on late payment charge of $35.00, even if you are paid a year ahead.

I "feel" your pain

AUTHOR: Michelle - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 06, 2004

I was a customer with FNANB for many years. I have ALWAYS paid my bills timely and paid WAY more than the minimum. Usually I mail one payment (what I feel confident I can pay) and then mail another at the end of the month (just to keep my balance really low) if there is still a balance.

This Bank One switch is like day and night. In the past two weeks I have been treated unprofessionally, disrespectfully and without any possible resolution.

Supposedly, there were new terms and conditions sent to me (I personally have yet to receive them) but made a purchase (as it states in these T&C)so I agreed to them regardless (um . . . ok). In these new rules it states that there is no longer any kind of grace period. My payment is due on their doorstep by 10:00am on the due date stated on my bill.

I mailed the payment 2 days before the due date via bill-pay which for the past few years has gotten my payment credited on time and still does with every other creditor I have. Not so with Bank One.

I was told that my payment may not have been applied in a timely fashion because I didn't complete their little payment stub or use their furnished envelope so (in so many words) they may have sat on the payment for a few days.

I was charged a late fee that they REFUSE to reverse (even on the "GOOD CUSTOMER" basis). This isn't the only run-in I've had with them since they took over.

I was shocked at how rude the customer service reps are and how their "supervisors" are even ruder. And can I keep going up the ladder? I was told that was as high as I could go and that I was not allowed to dispute their fees. HUH!!

So they can get my payment on time and decide that they need some donut money and just sit on it until it's late and there is NOTHING I can say or do.

I was told that the "best" way to avoid this is to make a payment over the phone . . . for a fee . . right.

Hey, how about you bite my rump - how 'bout that. Losing me as a customer doesn't matter so I guess the only "justice" I get is shedding light to others on what a bunch of vampires Bank One is.

A word of caution to credit card consumers . LOTS of credit card companies are doing this now so don't rely on your status as a "good customer" to rectify situations as has been the case in the past. You are their pidgeon and at their mercy and they know it.
