You might want to watch out when using the drive up atm maching at the American National bank located in Kaufman, Texas...

I used the machine this morning and it stole my money & debited my account! The employees inside told me that there was nothing that they could do, nothing at all!!

I put my atm card in their atm machine, entered my pin# etc, entered the amount of cash I wanted and the screed flashed and read: "Insufficient Funds" "Contact your Financial Institution" Then it spit my card out and gave me no receipt!

I knew that this was a mistake, I just finished checking my balance on the phone!!!

I called my bank, only to find out that the atm machine did infact debit my account for the exact amount of money I was trying to get!!! ($500.00 to be exact!)

After going inside the bank and speaking to someone, calling numerous people up there the only response I get is that they cannot do anything, call my bank! They couldn't do anything!! I asked them to pull the tapes, anything that would help me get my money... No, they can't do anything they told me!!

Now I have to file a dispute with my bank. It takes 15 days to get my money back, if my dispute is approved!

AMERICAN NATIONAL IS HOLDING MY MONEY FOR 2 WEEKS!

This is so unfair!! You better watch out when using their atm, IT STEALS MONEY!!

Sorry to burst your bubble

Many banks do not service their own ATMs; they hire outside servicing companies. This is why "no one can help you" when you go into the branch, and direct you to notify your bank to refund your money. Your bank, and ONLY your bank can start the investigation process to get your money back that was improperly debited, as they have to contact the ATM servicing department to determine whether or not the money actually was dispensed. Unfortunately, the dispute process is lengthy, because that is when surveillance is pulled (if applicable), along with ATM tapes and a record proving the amount of funds dispensed by the machine that day.
