Bar Harbor Grand Hotel, Hotel Does Not allow drinks and will cancel your reservation if you drink. Bar Harbor Maine
*Consumer Suggestion: It's called 'Public Intoxication' ...
We booked a stay at the Bar Harbor Grand Hotel. The general manager took the liberty of cancelling our reservation due to the fact that we had a single drink.
I like to have a drink on vacation and would expect that a hotel allows consumption of alcohol. If they did not allow this, it should be posted on on the website.
I am very disappointed in this hotel and would advise everyone to avoid it.

... and you're very lucky he didn't have you arrested. Next time you visit ANYWHERE in Maine, keep in mind that drinking outside a bar, restaurant or your own home/room is officially illegal statewide. The manager may have been a bit of a jerk, true, but he was acting well within his legal right.
As a former Maine resident and hotel industry veteran, I've done this myself on many occasions.
