Barcas Field Services Worst Company to work for Dumas Texas
Barcas Field Services is the worst company in the oilfield to work for. First of all they operate on a buddy, buddy system. If you are not a part of this system you will get crapped on. The Upper echileon, including the CEO are only interested in one thing, profit, and they don't care who they screw over to get it. They started other companies before Barcas, ran them into bankruptcy, and sold them for a profit, not careing about how many lives are destroyed in the process. The drivers are lied to from the very beginning, promised days off, that they didn't get, and about the pay. Promises were made to get the drivers to do more work, but were never acted on by the company. Dispatch issued more loads than a driver could do in his 14 D.O.T. hours, and tell you not to drop a load or you will be put on suspension or fired.
The first Supervisor (I.E. Dispatch) I had was a total jerk. He was married, and he was hitting on every female driver he could. One quit because of it. He even tried to break up a few relationships so he could have a crack at gal. He would tell you your doing a good job to your face, then stab you in the back, and talk bad about you to other drivers. All ways wanted you to do more loads than you could, useing a formula that works only if the company had one truck, no wait time, Load time, and off load time only thirty minutes, which oil gravity had to be between 40 and 50 gravity with high head pressure to get it loaded within thirty minutes, and tell you to alter your logs to do the loads. He wanted you to do 4 to 6 loads a day, which was in no way legal. 3 to 4 maybe if you were in a sleeper unit, and slept out on location, and only had to deliver the loads to the facilaty that was 45 minutes away, with no wait time at either location to load or off load, and the gravity of the oil between 40 and 50. Now if you were in a day cab like I was, you would have to get a hotel room, which Barcas would not pay for.
From the yard to the first load took anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours to get to. Load time and off load time varied depending on gravity, head pressure, and lact unit. The higher the gravity the longer it took to load, and unload, and that varied between 25 nminutes to two hours or better. The distance to the facilaties to off load the crude varied between 2 hours 15 minutes, 1 hour and 15 minutes, to 45 minutes depending on what you were assigned. With the number of trucks going in to load, and off load we had wait time at both places. Wait time varied between 30 minutes, to two hours. One place in particular I had to wait in a line of trucks 6 hours to unload, and because of the gravity, it took 2 hours to unload. Did I drop loads? Yes I did. Had to protect my CDL. After the first supervisor left, the one who replaced him wasn't much better. He tried to convince the drivers that the loads were more important than the drivers. But without the drivers to get these very important loads, upper managment and the CEO wouldn't get paid. He all so pushed for more loads. The loads were text to us first but because of the evidence of what Barcas was doing, the drivers had to call in to get their loads. Idiots didn't realize you can download an app that can record in call conversations between both parties. Spring suspension tractors that Barcas purchased caused a lot of back injuries going up down rough oilfield roads.
Did Barcas help any of these drivers out? That would be from a little bit to a no. There are still some drivers unable to work because of their injuries, that won't get help from Barcas, because another company Rose Rock Midstream bought Barcas out in Sept of 2013, and there was no way for them to fill out an application for Rose Rock. So they are now without benefits, or workmans comp. His excuse for not putting the drivers in an air ride truck, oh the springs will get softer when the truck is loaded. Company wouldn't get overweight permits until a month before Rose Rock bought them out. So for two years the drivers had to keep the loads at a bare minimum to avoid getting fined by D.O.T. Drivers had to keep track of their milage, because if they didn't Barcas would try to screw them on their pay. Because Barcas enjoyed loading the drivers up with loads to put them over their hours, Barcas came up with a new policy of with holding drivers pay as a fine for driving over hours, even tho they did not have the D.O.T. certificate that would allow them to do that.
