Bargain Network Dishonest billing practices and signing up for things not agreed to Goleta California

I signed up for Bargain Network over the phone in 2002. I had the account for several months and the account lapsed due to charge card being cancelled. I signed up again online for one month of service on May 14th of 2003. The deal was that you pay $9.95 per month to access a website with property listings and other deals that were offered. When I called in June I gave them my personal information and told them I wanted to cancel my account.

Well, apparently off the information that I gave them (my phone number) they looked up my first Bargain Network account and not the one I signed up for online. I told them to cancel my account and cancel my billing. They told me I could have the service for one year for one more payment of $9.95 so I agreed. Well, the online account never got cancelled because they thought I was calling about the account I set up in 2002. They proceeded to bill my charge card every month from June of 2003 until now.

Twenty months of biling for a service that I never used after June of 2003. They just cancelled my account today and said the best they could do is refund me for three months of service. In total I paid 7 months of service on my visa account for the account I set up over the phone and twenty months of service at $9.95 per month. The total amount is $268.65. They want to refund me for $29.85. Even after they saw that there was a miscommunication and that they looked up and canceled the wrong account they were not willing to refund the 20 months of paid service. I called several times in between and they gave me the run around.
