YOU defaulted on the loan causing a repo. That DID NOT relieve you of the contracted amount of the loan. They attempted to collect that amount and apparently YOU decided not to pay it. They have either already sued you or are about to sue you for that money. As such, a judgement against you will result in the garnishment. Whether you have the car or not does not make the contract vanish. They are holding you to YOUR PROMISE to make on time payments.
