To whom it may concern, Date 11-09-03
We recently hired Bath Fitter of Greensboro, North Carolina to install a new tub and tile board in our bathroom. We hired them in because it was a quick and easy way to get a new fresh look to our old tub and tile walls.

The job was estimated at taking two days total to complete. So we made arrangements to stay elsewhere as our water would be cut off during the installation.

The first day on the job the installer ran into some trouble, our pipes leading into the shower were badly corroded and had to be replaced. Since Bath Fitter installers were not certified plumbers (unbeknownst to us) we had to replace them before they could continue the installation.

The very next day I had replaced the pipes and called for rescheduling. They could not schedule another installation until the following week and during this time we could not stay in our home because the bathroom pipes were exposed and open. The next week we had everything back on track and our installer estimated another two days to complete the job.

Unbeknownst to us Bath Fitter sent out an installer who had only been employed for three weeks and had no experience in PVC piping or as it appeared not much else as well. It took him a day and a half to complete the pipe work for the new bath fixtures. After redoing his work five times he said he finally had it fixed and was starting on the new tub and wall installation which ran into a third day.

Assuming his work was completed we finally move back into our home after a week and a half to find that our shower door they had installed was far from sliding into its grooved track, the walls were seriously bowed, one of the pipes was leaking inside the wall, a large mess, and our recently installed floor had several gashes which I now have to replace.

Horrified we called them back to redo the work the previous installer had botched up. So the next day they sent in another installer who we assumed fixed the door which now slid into its track but would only open halfway before sticking and falling off the track completely. We waited to call Bath Fitter this time because the installer said that as we opened and closed our door it would fix itself.

The door never fixed itself so in frustration we called Bath Fitter once again to have someone look at the walls, the pipe, the floor, some unfinished caulking, and again the door. The next installer they sent seemed very knowledgeable and told us that we wouldn't like what he had to say but they would have to tear out the work that was done and schedule another installation because the work that was done was done so poorly. He fixed the water leak while he was there and left.

So we scheduled another installer to come in and redo the work. I wasn't there so I'm not really sure what it was that he did but our door was finally closing right and the molding we complained about was fixed. The walls were still bowed and now the shower door was leaking. So again I call Bath Fitter and this time I spoke with the manager who had just started with Bath Fitter as well. He came to my home and looked at the job that was done and offered to send another installer out to fix the walls and the leaking shower.

He also asked if $100.00 would be adequate compensation for the damage they've done to my bathroom and time I had spent outside my home. This was a laughable figure seeing the damage they've already done and the amount of time they have inconvenienced our family to live outside our home. I did not accept his figure and scheduled yet again another installer to come out and fix the walls. This installer looked at the job and explained to me what he thought was wrong with my walls and I was in complete agreement with him as I had assumed the same problem.

So he called the man who was in charge of his work to explain what he determined to be the problem yet the man in charge told him to go on and perform the work that he told to which was to take the wall out double up on the tape where the wall was bowing and place it back. I told the installer that he knew as well as I did that it would solve the problem of the wall giving when it was pushed but it would still bow a great deal and it would not be acceptable to me.

He said he knew but had to complete the job as he was told. When I came home to see the job, the walls were just as I had thought they would be, still bowing. Not only this but now the door track had a large gash in the metal and the walls where they had to tear out the door and track had been cut up as well. I called for the manager once again and he told me he would come out and see me the following week to look at the installation once again. He never called.

So I called him and got in contact with him late in the week and he told me he was waiting for his good installer to come out and review the job with him. So he said he would contact me the following week to come out once again to my home. I have lost a number of hours at work due to meeting with their installers and being held up often more than a couple hours by their first installer. I have since yesterday received a bill for their services for. I was told that I would not receive a bill until the job was completed to my satisfaction.

The job is still unfinished and it has been a month and a half. This Bath Fitter location had been without any management for two months and during that time they had an inexperienced installer come by himself to do some professionals job. The work and time they have put into this is not acceptable and I feel that I and my family have been taken advantage of in this situation.

They stand behind their work!

AUTHOR: Michael - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 21, 2004

At first glance upon reading these other reports on Bathfitter I was a bit angry in thinking that I had failed to research a company before hiring them and that I was about to be stuck with an incomplete product. In frustration I was presumptuous.

The staff an management of this Bathfitter franchise has been courteous and have worked hard to satisfy me as a customer. They have completed the job in which they were hired and have done so to my satisfaction. The bathroom looks great now. They stand behind their work and product.

I offer my apologies for my presumption and thank them for being an honorable company in standing behind their work.
