I have had nothing but problems with this bank since opening my account with them. Not only have they charged me several hundred dollars in NSF charges but they are always letting people withdraw money from my account without permission causing more overdraft charges.

I have spoken to many customer service reps, with no luck they treat me as if i have done something wrong when the only thing that i am guilty of is trusting them with my money. As of now i have two accounts overdrawn with them and there is no way i can pay it because BB&T has all my money.

I have called and told them DO NOT LETANYONE AUTOMATICALLY WITHDRAW FUNDS FROM MY ACCOUNT and the very next day call to check my account to find out that someone took money and now not only am i broke but i owe them and the bounced checks and the fees that the stores charge. I will be in financial trouble for awhile due to banking with BB&T.

I hope that someone stops these people from taking money that does not belong to them. Sincerly Yours, Starving in Ga

Same thing with my wifes business and our personal accounts

AUTHOR: Mr. Rogers - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, April 22, 2012

My wife has her business account with them with $xx,xxx.xx in it along with a personal checking/savings account which are NOT linked together in anyway. Her business is through her LLC and even DBA was implemented. They decided to close her business account due to high risk, which they are not investing or loaning any money to. Just multiple thousand dollar deposits into her business account and personal account is for her own spending and payroll to herself when they did so, they also closed her personal accounts which are non related may I remind you and transferred all of her funds from personal/savings account into her business account, WITHOUT CONSENT, which caused many over draft fees and told us they will be closing them in 7 days. As a paralegal I immediately went into the brand with my wife and tried to get the matter resolved. We were given a # to call to speak with customer service and the rep admitted she "assumed" thats what she wanted since they were closing her accounts. The branch was not helpful at all and just kept saying call the #. After speaking with the customer service rep over the phone and listening to her go on and on about how sorry she was about assuming what we wanted to do with our money after they decided to close the accounts. So needless to say BB&T is the worst possible bank to bank with and a complaint was filed with the BBB along with a lawsuit coming up once the papers are signed by my boss, for free :),  which he is taking full care of for us due to his own mishaps with this so called establishment that he took to court himself 5 months ago and WON in the first hearing.

I highly advise anyone needing a bank to avoid this place and I personally hope they go out of business due to their nsf fees they accrued to her personal account and bills didnt get paid. They even froze her money in business account for 3 days so they could make sure it wasnt fraud? Are you kidding me? Will update once we go to court and see what happens. He is very excited to sue BB&T again for the same reasons. PS: After speaking with multiple reps over the phone, we finally got the money unfrozen withdrew all of our money and went to a new bank they had the nerves to call and offer a new checking account with us after sending them a Cease and Desist letter regarding anything with the accounts and to contact our legal representation, violation of law, just added more grounds to our case. They even said we told them to consolidate the money into business account to be easier to get it all out of. But little did we know they transferred money back from her business account into her personal account just enough to cover the NSF fees which they had caused, Even more grounds for our case. Good luck to all who that have had this happen to them and I cannot wait to get this into court.

Nothing wrong with my attitude

AUTHOR: Lucy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, April 18, 2004

There is nothing wrong with my attitude Debra, I have always maintained myself and treat everyone with respect and fear no one. I never have problems with the phone 24 service representaives. Just the local banks. And after working 14 years at a military installation where some civilian employees have worked at organizations most of their lives. I have found them to be set in their ways, but that's okay. It's when they are so dead set in their ways that they feel life can not go on without their interventions that other people have suffered. I have not only written to BB&T corporate headquarters. I have also written to the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint for abusive practices. I have included your name and a link to your responses which prove the abusive treatment most people get. If those employees who have displayed abusive behaviors to customers are removed then honest hardworking employees who really care about their customres won't have to take the falls for their abusive counterparts. As a reporter for a military newspaper, I have started working on a story about facilities that rip-people off. So that if anything. The Soldiers who fight and die for us shouldn't have to be subjected to this nonsense. They already have enough to worry about.

So What Debbie!!! BB&T has still done many customers wrong!!!!!

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, April 05, 2004

Debbie,

So what! Why the attitude change? Suddenly you're accusing someone else of judging other's!

Your responses to the complaints about BB&T were harsh and very judgemental!

Of course BB&T isn't going to cheat everyone.

My wife and I had nothing but problems with BB&T from the minute they took over. We never changed the way we banked when F&M was our bank.

F&M Bank was trouble free. We didn't have any NSF Fees.

The first problem with BB&T happened when one of BB&T's so called "Relationship Bankers" gave us both false and or misleading information regarding deposits.

This employees error cost us $90.00 in NSF Fees. I called the the employee the next day and reminded them that it was their information that caused the problem, this so called "Excellent BB&T" employee said "I admit I was wrong but I'm not going to give you back all $90.00. But I'll spilt the difference with you and give you back $45.00!

I thought it was d**n generous of BB&T to offer to give me back half the money they shouldn't have taken in the first place.

Split all the hairs you like Debbie, that was theft!

Subsequent times when my wife or I followed instructions from BB&T employees, said information was always either false and or misleading! And it always cost us money in NSF fees.

Sometimes it seemed that we were both working just to keep paying NSF fees.

Despite all our attempts to correct the problems, BB&T only stalled us repeatedly and continued to charge our account with what amouted to THOUSANDS of dollars in NSF fees.

We went through the chain of command, if you can call a collective group of arrogant asses a chain of command and all we were treated to were bad attitudes!

On the same subject in dealing with BB&T, we received four different answers. These four different answers came from everyone from a "Relationship Banker" to one branch mananger to a regional manager!

When we'd had enough of BB&T using our bank account as they pleased and changing things around to suit themselves, we filed a complaint against them with the FDIC.

BB&T's response came from a person named Cynthia Fisher. In true BB&T fashion, the actual complaint was never addressed. This employee worded the letter to lay the blame on my wife and I.

It's pretty d**n hard to balance a checkbook or account when you're not expecting anywhere from $30 to $180.00 in NSF Fees being applied to your account.

Debbie, no bank allows any of their regular customers to have 30 NSF fees in a month!

BB&T hit our account with almost 150 NSF fess before "WE" closed our account!

We had to endure what BB&T was doing to us so that we could get a solid base of evidence and records!

Debbie, my wife and I were charged thousands of dollars in NSF fees. When we kept complaining
about BB&T never resolving any of the matters theire employees were causing but continuing hitting our account with NSF fees, they then started applying more fees and making our lives a living hell!

Taking BB&T to court would have resulted in our winning.

But that would have taken years.

Starting several anti-BB&T websites and keeping the pressure on will make for an easier win.

Plus a complete line of anti-BB&T tee shirts with some very insulting sayings will be quite profitable.

Do Not Judge ME

AUTHOR: Debra - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, April 05, 2004

First of all, you do not know what kind of an employee that I truly am. Judge not, lest ye be judged. I work hard to help my clients everyday and my clients almost always call or come in and prefer to talk with me because they know I care and try my best to solve their problems. Perhaps if you had a decent attitude toward the employees who have nothing to do with your mistakes or the fees charged by the bank. We do all that the corporation will alow. As a side note, the branch that I am in has been voted Best Customer Service 3 years running, we must be doing something right!!!

Bad attitudes

AUTHOR: Lucy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, April 04, 2004

I have to agree with the gentleman defending Kim, I've also had the same problem and have also dealt with employees just like Debra. It's not the whole banking ordeal that bothers me more than the attitudes of the people that work at BB&T. As far as banks go...actually not all banks are like this. I've begun the process of moving my account to USAA, the same people I have car insurance with and as a customer they have always called me when there is a concern or before they do anything that would effect my finances. I recently contacted the corporate headquarters office for the North Carolina branch.

They said they do not support or tolerate abusive employees and claimed to have started an investigation after the last incident where the bank...for whatever reason locked my account. Even though there is money there. When I called to ask not only why it was locked and to request they unlocked it.

The local branch told me it was not their doing and gave me the number to the 800 Phone 24 line who as friendly as they could be told me only local branches can do that. Maybe the headquarters office can help...not sure. I hope so. There are way to many employees who think they have power to control us and it is their attitudes that will be their downfall.

Debbie, please do everyone a favor and """""SHUT UP""""!!!!!

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 17, 2003

Debbie, from all I've read about you, one thing keeps coming to mind!!! SHUT UP!!! Your answers are the same. They seem scripted!! Are you writing your responses from cheat sheets?? You're going to be a fun one to get in open court, ya know that?? Debbie, actually its sad when you seem so one sided and waering blinders.I hope you're more observant with other aspects of your life. You must not have had many friends growing up and may still have few if any friends! Your attitude is that of a very u8nhappy person who has only a pitiful job to fill up her time. And lady, the way you defend the corporation you work for is purely pitiful. They're wrong! I guess this makes you wrong as well!!

STOP blaming others for YOUR mistakes

AUTHOR: Debra - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 24, 2003

First of all, once you sign up for an automatic draft, we are powerless to stop it. You MUST contact the institution that is withdrawing the funds from your account. The only other option is to close all of your accounts and reopen them elsewhere. People do not see to understand that if you give out your cheking account number or you debit/ATM card number, you have given the company that you have given it to the right to keep withdrawing funds from your account. So, I don't understand how YOU giving out YOUR personal info can possibly be anyone else's fault.

Second, if it is an individual that is going into a branch and withdrawing funds from your account, then YOU have obviously given them your info to be able to access your accounts. We are NOT allowed to even make a deposit for someone that claims to be making a deposit for an account holder. Again, if you have given someone access to your account, that IS NOT our fault.

Third, if you are incurring NSF fees, you obviously are spending more than you make.... AGAIN, WHY IS THAT OUR FAULT.

Take responsibility for your own actions and finances. Get an overdraft account to help STOP the NSF fees and STOP giving out your personal info to people, companies or anyone else. We offer many sevices to help our clients but, you can only help those that try to help themselves. Also, if there is fraudulent activity on your account and you can prove who it is, you may file a police report and have the perpertrators arrested for fraud. If it is a company that is ripping you off, you need to file a rip-off report for the company that keeps drafting your account, our proof department only pays what YOU have given your consent to.
