Bell'o International Corporation Exploding Glass, Defective Product, Hidden problems Morganville, New Jersey

Bello International Corporation sells television stands made of tempered glass. This glass has a history of exploding spontaneously, posing a danger to consumers and damage to expensive audio/video equipment.

A few years ago, I purchased model# PVS-4215HG, believing their claim that it could accomodate my 42" plasma tv. The other night my family and I awoke to a loud crash coming from our living room. At first we thought someone had broken a window in our house..  Turns out it was our Bell'o stand. No one touched it, no sudden temperature changes, nothing. The middle shelf just exploded into countless pieces all over my other components, dropping my center channel onto my receiver. And what a mess! Even had tiny pieces of glass inside my receiver and cable box.

The next day, I called Bell'o rep Sandy Alfare to inform her what had happened. She was well aware of this issue and apologized. She also offered to send me a replacement piece of glass. I explained that I could never trust my equipment to this stand again and would prefer a refund or something safer and stronger in its place. She then replied, "that would be admitting that our product is defective, so no" I then expressed that I felt a need to inform unsupecting customers about their faulty product. She answered "we sell thousands of these stands and most people are happy with them. " 

I am covinced the tempered glass used in these stands is often defective and Bell'o fully realizes this. They knowingly continue to sell them. I am writing this in order to inform the public of this issue.
