i bought a new laptop and also a wireless router for my printer. i spent over $900 and needless to say the wireless would not work with the laptop they sold me!! i left the computer to get an "optimization service". after leaving it with them for 10 hours i got it home and the mouse was fried!!!! i spent an hour calling the store and when i finally got someone to pick up one of the sales people told me they were too busy to help me and i should just return it!!!! they walk around behind that Geek Squad counter like who the hell they are and we are just a bunch of morons!!! there could be a line 20 people long and they act like they don't even see you there!!! they could be the last store opened on the planet and i would never buy another thing from them!! they are horrible at customer service and they are rude and nasty!! i would rather shop at Costco!!!

First of all, I would like to say I'm sorry that you had such an experience at Best Buy.

I'm having difficulty understanding why you say "needless to say" about the wireless router not working with the laptop they sold you. All laptops sold these days have the capability to work with wireless networking, out of the box; and any wireless router will work with any laptop. The only thing that I could think of is, perhaps the router was bad, or perhaps the laptop's wireless reciever was bad. These things happen, as the manufacterers make hundreds of thousands of products a year. Sometimes they miss quality checks.

It is true that Sales Operators will encourage people to come into the store rather than help them over the phone. It's next to impossible to diagnose a problem with a computer or wireless network over the phone. It's like asking a brain surgeon to operate blindfolded. The Sales Operator, being just that, an Operator, would have recommended that you just return it if you're within your return policy, because it's just easier to start fresh. The Sales Operator is also the only person answering the phones, and they can only answer one phone call at a time, so if they have a high volume of phone calls, they will try to get through your call as quickly as possible so they can help more people.

As a Best Buy employee myself, I admit that (when at the Geek Squad counter) I have made an effort not to make eye contact with customers waiting in line there. I am NOT a Geek Squad agent, and as such, I'm not actually even ALLOWED to help customers up there. Sometimes I have to go up there to get something, or to talk to the Sales Operator, but I'm not allowed to help anyone there because I'm not a certified Geek Squad agent.

Again, I'm sorry that you had such a bad experience, but I hope that you will still give Best Buy another try in the future.
