Attended FREE workshop in Baltimore, Maryland, after seeing Better Trades infomercial "Bringing Wall Street to Main Street." Excited about products and techniques to trade stocks and options. One thing troubled me -- the "suggestion" that participants might want to move their 401K and IRA accounts into self-directed brokerage accounts......but I brushed this aside, thinking I wouldn't do that.

Busy all weekend and delved into the DVDs Monday. Tried to watch matching classes online. DVDs were poor quality and power point online class was audible, but not visible. Tech said my video card was corrupted. NOT. One class was missing, but was told they would have it available next day. Next morning it was there, and the power point slides were fine....both audible and visible.

In conversation with the tech, he said the audio cd's were good and Free with whole course fee. I was told if I were one of the first 3 people to sign up, the cd's were free. I'm sure they said to buy them was X amount of money ,but the "catch" - only if you did not buy the whole course did they cost X. Also, "if you leave the room, this course will cost you $3995. I fell for it all...a sinking feeling began to fill my stomach, and I made some calls.

The Better Business Bureau of Southern Nevada said they were "quite familiar" with Long Term Short Term, Better Trades. The only problem is that they have many calls about them, but few people take the time to file a claim. They are listed as having an Original Start Date of July 2006, but have claims against them that date back to November 2004...,1 Contract issue and 1 Product quality issues, both resolved. Is Better Trades a new DBA name, or did they just register as a Business?

The Maryland State's Attorney General's Office said they would be glad to arbitrate a claim on my behalf, but only in Consumer Protection. The Securities Division of MD OAG says this company is not registered with them, but don't meet the standards which require them to register..,selling Business Opportunities- though they talk about having your own business and working 10-15 hours a week.

Then I read J from Tennessee's ripoff report and knew I had to ask them for a refund. They refused. Got a call from a young man, playing loud computer games in his "home office." He said "you WILL come to the seminar, you WILL make money, and IF you don't (1% of people do not) you can 'attempt' to get a refund in 6 months." The guarantee is income = 3x the course fee ($8985=3x2995) using their methods for 6 consecutive months. No mention is made of how much money you have that one is willing to invest, etc.

A reputable company wouldn't resort to high pressure sales pitches and refusal to refund wary customers money.

I am still requesting a refund, wouldn't you?

BetterTrades - The Reality

AUTHOR: Steven - (U.S.A.)

If you don't have an extra $10,000 for education to learn how to trade and lots of time to work hard at learning, pass up this opportunity and all opportunities you may find on the TV that tell of becoming rich easily.

To some degree you need a personality that is made for trading. You may get lucky and make lots of money - easily. You may make $50,000 easily, but it won't keep happening without education and wisdom. In the mean time you will lose much of the $50,000.

I love the people at Bettertrades. They are not scam artist at all. They just may charge high prices to people who can't afford it. They are not there to tell you to keep your money. They want your money. They will not discern whether or not you are someone who should be parting with your money. It is possible you are someone who will benefit and they hope you are. If you are not that special person who has money to part with then I feel for you and in saying that I have a hard time with Bettertrades. I can't expect them to do a psychological profile of you to see if you should be buying their expensive products. However, they are in the sales and education business and need money to survive. Do not part with it unless you have plenty to part with.

I am going in circles, because Bettertrades is not dishonest. They are wonderful people. But, they will take your money that you need. Is that their fault? This system will not give you the knowledge to make money right off the bat. They paint a picture that it is more possible than it is. As I said above, you may make money and lots of it. But to be a good trader is like anything else. You need to devote yourself to practicing and learning the business, the skill. IT IS NOT EASY and I don't believe Bettertrades or anyone else that is selling their product will stay in business if they approach the market with, "You might be someone who can learn this. Why don't you give us thousands of dollars to see."

So the bottom line is - if you think it is easy money, or you will make money with a 2 day class. How can I express the unlikely possibility without saying IMPOSSIBLE. However, if you are someone with $10-20,000 and want to start a new career and have quite a bit of extra time to learn, it is VERY POSSIBLE to learn how to trade and you may be someone who will make incredible money.

Better Trades CEO Freddie Rick is a true gentleman.

AUTHOR: M - (U.S.A.)

Update Entered: 9/24/2006

I was personally contacted by Freddie Rick and offered a refund of my $2995 course fee. He was very gracious and willing to do the right thing. Even the three day company policy for refunds had expired, he said he was willing to make amends and call it even.
I am very pleased with the outcome.

After requesting a refund numerous times, and returning all materials to the company, I still have not had any success with a refund.
