Just recently Bloomingdale's reported me as being 30 days late on a credit card payment that their website showed as a zero balance.  This has destroyed my credit and basically ruined my life. Bloomingdale's never notified me that a bill was due, and every time I looked at my account online it showed a zero balance.  Nonetheless, I called their credit department a few times to correct what is obviously their mistake, and to please remove it.

I have never been late with any of my payments or payments in general as I am very responsible in that sense.  When attempting to call them they hide behind some bogus policy, because the policy they are referring to is unwritten.  Bloomingdale's is in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting/Billing Act as they are required to send statements to you by law, because I haven’t received any statements either, and when looking at my records it’s been some time since any statements have ever been sent to me, which is a violation.

If you do happen to have a Bloomingdale's card you’ve probably experienced something similar.  Nevertheless, they are a horrible company to deal with as they honestly do not care about you in any way whatsoever.  I will never buy anything from them ever again, and people I’ve shared this story with are not only appalled, but they’re also disgusted at what they’re doing, and how I’ve been treated.

All I wanted was for them to fix their own error, but they would rather hide behind some non-existent policy and treat a loyal customer like this.

Do not buy anything from Bloomingdales, and destroy your Bloomingdales card if you happen to have one.  They have no loyalty to loyal customers and will screw you too by destroying your credit you work so hard to build.

Shame on you Bloomingdales for treating a very loyal customer for so many years like this.  Bloomingdales has literally devastated our lives and destroyed everything at a time when we’re trying to buy our first home, and start a family.  We are about to get kicked out of our rental because of their false reporting tactics and inflexibility to work with their loyal customers.

Bloomingdales is a total disappointment.

What is the full story...

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, June 29, 2015

There seems to be quite a bit of details being left out.

First of all you apparently are logging onto your account and seeing you have a zero balance due.  Now, if you don't get statements and aren't making any purchases or have a balance why would you be going to their site?  Were you expecting to have to pay something?

Also, you say that you didn't receive statements per the Fair Credit Billing Act.   You are correct that they must provide you a statement.  But that could include "e-statements" which if you are logging into your account have the opportunity to view.

You also keep referring some "unwritten" and "bogus" policy.  So what is this policy that they keep refering to?

But the final statement you made is one of the more odd statements.   You said that they were inflexible.  Why would you need flexibility with them?  If they violated the law it is pretty cut and dry...right?

As for you getting kicked out of your rental for a single 30 day late.  Either you have the strictest landlord I have ever heard of or you are again not telling the full story.   Landlords do not run, or at least ones I have ever heard of, credit checks on their tenants monthly.  Especially if the tenant is paying on-time and for the full amount, it is just too costly for them.  I have heard them sometimes running it for a renewal, but again if you have a good history with them and explained it I can't see them kicking you out.
