Saw an ad for an old truck with low miles.  Perfect - just what we wanted.   Something that would run and be safe....that is it.  We went to see and drive it.  It was easy to see that the rust had been painted over...should have been our first clue, but we were not real worried about that so we continued.  Somebody punched a hole in the instrument panel and shattered the housing but no big deal; he did not try to hide that, even though it was under a carpet dash mat.  It drove a little funny - either ball joints or alignment.  Roads were snowy and slushy so hard to tell.  His mechanic said he personally checked the ball joints, so I believed him and figured in an alignment.  No big deal.  Check Engine light was on - supposedly, an O2 sensor they fixed.  Great no light on when we drove it.  We bought it despite the obvious flaws and based on trusting what he said.  He seemed to be a man a character.  Boy were we wrong.

Did not even get home without the check engine light coming on again - it was really the TRANSMISSION.  No wonder it was way overfull, they likely put in something hoping to fix it or cover it up.  Then while getting an alignment we find out it is not even save to drive - it was the ball joints after all ...one was bad and one was critical bad.  The deal was also for a set of 4 wheels and tires and we are still waiting for two of the four...can’t find them apparently.  

I always want to see the good in people.  However, when I told him what happened and asked for just half the cost of the repairs - not even all of it; he just hid behind his mechanic and told us to buzz off.   So if you want to buy something from this guy or business - do so at your own risk.  I thought I was a good judge of character until now.
