These foster parents do not deserve to have foster children or even to have children of their own. They do not care for the kids, they leave it up to the kids to fend for themselves and use all the money they receive from the foster children on themselves and their kids.

They use the money to vacation several times a year and refuse to buy new clothing for the foster children. The kids have to live in a nasty, cold and dirty basement full of junk and dirty clothes while they all stay up stairs. they cheat the system by lying so they can get extra help. How can this happen? I know how Bob works because I was once very close to him, I am not now and I used to have to live in that kind of life.

I have his other children and of course I have to let him keep them when he wants them, but my kids come home and tell me story after story of how Kris and Bob cuss and scream at each other in front of their kids. What kind of system would put children in their care?

Uncalled for

I find the "green eyed monster" post appalling and a condoner for slavery. It says these kids should be thankful that they live in stench and dirt in a cold , dirty basement. Just because one foster family treats their kids great does not mean that most foster families do. I guess that means that all customers are honest and banks no longer have to ask for ID. The original post clearly stated these kids live in squalor.

Consumer advocate, I hope you volunteered to be a foster parent.

I'm sure EVERYONE in your household can pass the intensive backround checks including the FBI checks, the financial record checks, the medical and drug tests, the unannounced home-cleanliness checks, and the un-announced checks by a court-appointed lawyer, the monthly nurse, caseworker and headshrinker visits and of course you'll attend all the required classes and meetings.

I've had five foster children, and all have done well. I don't receive "welfare payments" as you call it, it's compensation to me for opening up my home to a stranger and protecting and raising a throw-away child like it's my own. And before you mouth off that I am a low-life living off the system, I was asked to do this by the court, as many foster parents are. You talk the talk, try walking the walk.

Foster Care is Modern Day Northern Slavery

You say these kids should better be relieved because they got a home when no one else wanted them. Well number one, don't call kids unwanted, it's rude and promotes classism. All kids are at least wanted by God. Problem is God can't raise your kids. The sad part is the current foster family obviously does not want them either, so even in a foster home most kids are still unwanted. It was also said it's better if they be in a foster care home instead of 'in the system', hello idiot, foster homes ARE the system. Where else to they keep kids with no parents, in a museum?

My ex boyfriend had foster parents who used him to get free welfare-like payments from Uncle Sam, and then used them again to get adoption credits from Uncle Sam and always told my ex he was inferior and lucky they 'saved' him. Only a few foster parents are good, most should be charged with modern day slavery and put in jail.

Or better yet, not make kids in the first place. We have TOO many people in this world. It's cheaper to give out free birth control pills and condoms that it is to give out welfare checks and hospital coverage for catching AIDS.

Wake up America.

What has come of this case?

AUTHOR: Laura - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, July 01, 2006

Did you get your children out of harm's way? It seems these children need an adult to step up to help them. I hope something good has happened in reguards to the children who are shoved into a basement, and mistreated. I believe some (not all) foster parents are in it for the money for themselves rather than to help the children who need it the most. It sounds like these foster parents may be the type that are in it for the money. The kids in foster care such as this, should be helped. No more children should ever go to a foster home where there is not a good hearted person willing to take them in as they are, and treat them as they should.

Just a comment...

Summit County Children's Services is (in my opinion) overwhelmed with cases. They screw up sometimes because of it. The CASA/GAL program is a wonderful thing, however. These people are trained to find the truth about how foster children are being treated.

I have 2 boys in my custody (I've had them for 4 years). They were victims of abuse and neglect. Although I personally had decent experiences with CSB and the GAL assigned to the case, I've known many people who didn't.

One such case would be that of my hubby's two cousins, Charlie and David Wright. They were removed from mother's custody because of abuse and neglect. They were placed in a wonderful home of their aunt and uncle. For 6 years, CSB would rip those two little boys out of their loving foster home and send them back (over and over)to mother. The last time they were sent back to their mother, her boyfriend (Wayne Doyle) beat Charlie (who was 6 years old) so bad that it took him 3 days to die from his internal injuries. Their mother knew of the beating when it occurred and did nothing for Charlie. He died, David was sent back to permanently live with his aunt and uncle, the mother's boyfriend went to jail (still there), and the mother got off fairly easy if you ask me.

Google search the case and read it. (Wayne Doyle, Loretta Wright, Charlie Wright)

Abuse and neglect takes on many faces. While the boys I have "appeared" to be unharmed (they were sexually abused), their psychological damage is enormous. In Charlie and David's case, the physical abuse was so apparent and the system failed miserably. (CSB changed the length of time a child can be "in the system" after their case to TWO years)

My own personal advice would be: Contact a CASA/GAL if you suspect abuse and neglect. If you do nothing (as Loretta did) to stop or prevent it, you are no better than the abuser themselves.

Good Luck!!

If things are really that bad....

AUTHOR: Carl - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 05, 2005

Contact Child Protective Services. If the conditions and circumstances in which the children live are in any way abusive or neglectful, something must be done! If you have direct knowledge that your allegations are true and choose NOT to do anything about it, then in my opinion YOU are no better parent than they are. Further, if things are as bad as you say they are, why are you allowing YOUR kids to continue "visitation" there!? If there are custody issues and you legally have custody (in whatever capacity) you are within your right to voluntarily "break" the order/agreement and KEEP the children from returning to an abusive situation. However, you HAVE to contact your attorney immediately to state your reason for wanting to do so and then be prepared to prove it. It WILL cost money, but if you are truly protecting the children, it's the right thing to do.

ON THE OTHER HAND, if this is all just the ranting and raving of a bitter ex-wife/girlfriend/lover, etc., then it's time for you to move on. You CAN'T let bad decisions you made in the past dictate your future. Continuing "the game" sets a TERRIBLE example for the children - they learn what they live. Aren't the children and their well being really what's important here........

Green Eyed Monster. Sounds to me like your an obsessed ex-wife.

AUTHOR: Marcy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 28, 2004

Cat, like that is your real name. Sounds to me like your an obsessed ex-wife. Upset that Bob moved onto something better! Or are you upset that your not getting all the money for yourself anymore! Grow up and leave people alone who are taking care of kids that no one wanted, would they be any better in the system? Doubt it! I grew up like them kids and I feel I was treated better by my foster parents then I was by anyone in my family, at least I had a place to sleep and keep warm at night, food on the table everyday and I was able to enjoy a family life. Get over yourself Cat and get on with your life and stop playing your little games.
