I bought a 2005 Dodge Caravan at Bobs Dodge. I went there because he advertised bad credit no credit 99.00down or 99.00 a month. I have bad credit, so I went there with my Husband who as excellent credit to co sign for me. To my suprise that deal was not for me the salesman said. I ask him well why are you advertising, is it just to get people in. Well to my suprise I had to put down 2.270.00 for a 10.000 Car plus my husband co. signed I told the Salesman that it was false advertising, well he just gave me a grin. The van had a rattling noise like there was something wrong with the frame right from the beginning, I hoped that it would go away, but it didn't Oh I forgot to tell that I took out a 3 year warranty so I would be covered, I'm 68 years old and short on money. Now the warranty cost me an extra 40.00 a month. Now when I went for an oil change I ask him to check the frame, well he came back and told me that it was the Power steering shaft, and to my suprise it was not on the warranty and they will charge me 900.00 to fix it. I'm very upset I feel I got a royal skrewing from these people. I think my car should be repaired no charge.

And what really gets me upset that they are still advertising the same thing, how do the get away with that. The even have a person that sits with you for about an hour like he is you're best friend, and when I said yes that I would buy the Van he just got up and did not know us anymore.
Please help me!

Rebuttal From Dealer

AUTHOR: Juan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 04, 2009

As I have indicated in my previous response, we have done everything possible to satsifactorily resolve your disputes. Sadly, we cannot make everyone happy. I have spoken to the GM this afternoon and we are willing look at your service records and vehicle again.

Accoriding to your vehicle service records with us, you car was never brought to us for the complaints you are stating. Since your vehicle had a service agreement, I cannot understand how you incured and expeses.

In any event, I would like to have you come in so that we can reveiw your service records and expenses from THE VW dealer and discuss an amicable resolution.

I truly hope that we can resolve your issues with our dealership.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Untrue reponse from dealer.

AUTHOR: Hercules - (U.S.A.)

Dealer states they did everything possible to fix this car - Completely UNTRUE! You state that we have not been truthful in our statements to Rip-off Report?? Why would we have any reason to lie about any of this? You are just a horrid car dealer service looking to cover your butt and no matter what you write on here and how many times you write it and say we are lying, you all know you did not do everything possible to fix the car in question. You have made incorrect statements below as well: we never asked for any cosmetic repairs to be made to this car. Furthermore, we did not ask for any splash guards or dust covers to be replaced. We asked that you replace the "HEAT SHIELD" that had fallen off while driving. You did replace our heat shield but not well. Just a few months ago, your repair job fell off the car. When we had it replaced (at our own expense much as all the other repairs needed to make this car safe to drive) we found out that your service dept had attached the heat shield with zip ties. Interesting that once again, another part on this car was attached with zip ties. I believe the CV joint was also attached with zip ties. Who attaches a CV boot to a car with zip ties?

You have never spoken with the other VW dealer we took our car to. This was a dealership we brought our car to and paid all of the expense out of pocket. Your dealership was not involved!! We asked you repeatedly to take our car to this specific location but you refused! We spoke to the service manager at this particular location who did in fact say our car was unsafe and they could not believe a dealer would ever let a car off the lot with these issues. They found (as well as another well know, established mechanic) that our car was unsafe and even looked like it had been in an accident. We have paper work on all of this to back up every single word so I am not sure how you can say we are lying?! We also called your dealership and requested service orders for the work you had done to our car and at which time you told us you would not provide those work orders to us. I believe, under law, you are required to provide those to a customer who requests their own work orders. You couldn't give them to us because you never fixed our car. You would have had to create false documents which is why you wouldn't give us any documentation.

In addition to your already false statements, you say we refused to return a loaner car to you. This is such a lie! We returned every car (more than one seeing as our car visited your shop every week because you continued to not fix the problems) We received multiple loaner cars from you with empty gas tanks but always returned them to you with full tanks and cleaner then when given to us. The only time we could not return a car the same day you would call would be because we lived an hour from your shop and couldn't get up there. Not a refusal to return a car! Glad you can twist words around to make yourselves look better! At NO point in time did your dealership ever drive us to our home or fill up the gas tank!! You did have someone drop our car off at our home but you never drove us home and then filled up our tank. If you are going to throw out comments, you should probably make sure they are correct which most everything in your rebuttal is not!

This dealership DID NOT do everything possible to make us happy. If they had, we wouldn't be on rip-off report going back and fourth with them about their false, untrue statements. You can continue to write untrue statements and say we're lying but those who were involved with this particular situation know that not all was done to fix this situation and you took advantage of people who came to you for help. Customers who read this need to be aware that you are a dealership who takes advantage of people and lies and says whatever you need to get them in the door. Customers also need to be aware that even though they may have written "promise to fix" documents from dealers, it does not mean the dealer will fix a thing. In the end, this dealer did not fix our car and we drove around for months with a car that was unsafe. At any time in the months following our purchase, the cv boot on this car could have fallen off leaving us in a very dangerous situation. We spend thousands of dollars out of pocket to fix issues that the dealer promised to fix and never did. Almost a year later, our car is finally fixed and better then ever but to no thanks to this dealer. Consumers be aware, if there was ever a company to not trust, this dealer would be it. I wish our experience would have been different! I would love to be able to say we enjoyed our experience with this dealer and they did everything to make us happy but unfortunately, I can not.

Company Response to Complaint

AUTHOR: Jcm - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 02, 2009

I have reviewed this file based on the information provided in this complaint. I was able to locate this customer's file based on the limited information that was provided.

Based upon reviewing this dealership has done more than should be reasonably expected of a reputable car dealer. We have made several cosmetic repairs to the vehicle that were not needed at the time of purchase. These cosmetic repairs were also not covered by the warranty, as cosmetic work usually is not. We have also replaced the splash guards and dust covers.

Furthermore, at the customers request we did the following:

Inspected Motor Mounts (No problem)

Inspected Brake line (No Problem)

Driver side molding (replaced and painted) free of charge) not the dealers responsibility

Tire rotate and balance (completed no charge) not the dealers responsibility

Brakes (replaced no charge) not the dealers responsibility

Transmission inspection (Passed)

In addition to this car passing a transmission inspection, we brought the car to a reputable VW dealer. The VW dealer stated that they could not duplicate the customers concern. The customer stated in her complaint that VW said this vehicle was not safe and that is should have never been sold in its condition. This is completely false. The VW dealer never stated that the vehicle was unsafe. In fact, the VW dealer could not find anything wrong with this car.

While all of the above work was being done, we provided this customer a free loner car. Once the work was complete, she refused to bring the loaner car back to the dealership. She made our service manager drive her car back to her house and fill the gas tank, which we also did.

This dealership did everything possible to make this customer happy. The customer has even taken this vehicle to a VW dealership of her choice who concurred with us. We are very disappointed that this customer has not been truthful in her complaint with ripoffreport.com.

Consumers need to be made aware just because there is a report in this site does not mean that it truthful. As evident on our response, we make every attempt to make sure that customer satisfaction is a priority.
