We purchased a 46 inch Toshiba TV from Boscovs in August of 2005. We also purchased the Extended 5 year warranty for $399.99! We were told that if anything should go wrong with out Television it would be covered in full.
We have had numerous bulbs replaced through our warranty only to find out that there has been a defect in the bulbs from the company. Wait it gets better! When your bulb goes out it takes boscovs 10 days to get a new bulb and schedule you for service. They also do not give you a time that they will be there until the night before. So for most of us that means its a full day off without pay! Do they care about this NO!

Recently the bulb blew out AGAIN! On the 4th of July (What a great day for the bulb to blow) to top it off 4th of July this year was a Saturday and of coarse they are not open on Saturdays you must wait to call on Monday! Called customer service on Monday and it took till the following Monday for them to come out with a new bulb. Everything looked great we thanked the man and off he went.

A day later I noticed a funny area in the bottom left hand corner of our t.v. but, only when you look at it from a certain angle. So I called service. They have to send someone out and it will be 10 days before they can come and look at it.

I take of another day of work to wait for the repair guy knowing that he would not be able to fix it right away and parts would need to be ordered. So he comes out to the house looks at the corner that is discolored and tells me he has not seen a t.v. do that. He thinks that there are 3 screens in our particular t.v. and that maybe it is coming unglued. He will report it in the morning to the office. (also my husband was told by Sharon that if a part needed to be ordered they would just replace the t.v.)

We wait and get no call. So I contact the 1800 number to find out that the service guy reported it as customer abuse! Something must have been spilled on the screen or that we have a dog! What the hell does me having a dog have to do with the color imperfection on my T.V.? So I calmly explain to the lady that there is no possible way that something spilled on the screen causing it to bleed from the bottom up. Please let me speak with a manager. I get the response that he is on another line and will have to call you back.

In the mean time I am fuming! Customer abuse my a&&! Even if I were to put a drink on the top of the t.v. it has a weird edge. I surely would put it on a coffee table. But anyway just for giggles I put a glass of water on the awkward edge and knock it off. Well what do you know it falls off and splatters on the floor not even touching the screen! I am even more pissed now!
When I reach the manager and explain the situation and findings he will have to look into it and call us back.
My husband gets a call back today saying that it is customer abuse but, if we want he will order us a new screen and we will just have to pay his cost! What a joke. My husband was livid! Glad I wasn't in the room for that conversation. To top it off they would charge us the same price that I just priced on Toshiba's parts website! How is that wholesale?

Anyhow, I call back and ask why they are making there decision off of just one technicians word who wasn't sure in the first place? Why not send someone else out to look at it. His response was if the next tech deems it customer abuse I will be charged for a service call! WHAT! Are you kidding me? You have got to be kidding me! I even told him that he could could come stand in my living room and look at the t.v. and see that there is no possible way for the flaw in the screen to be caused by customer abuse. If I send a tech out and they deem it abuse you will have to pay for it is what he says again. No he has an attitude!

I refuse to pay for a tech from your company who is most likely told what to say when he reports back to you! So the man hung up on me!
I have tried to find another # to contact or owners info to contact them and even the regular boscovs customer service cant give me any info.
What ever happened to standing behind your product and word?

This was the last item my mother in law purchased from boscovs before she died suddenly. She was a boscovs employee at the time of her death. As a matter of fact the Christiana Store has a tree planted out in front in her name. She would roll over in her grave if she knew what they are putting us through!
Not only have I spent $399.99 on the warranty but also missed days from my work to be here for service to come out and time on the phone trying to get someone to listen!

Words of advice! Do not shop at boscovs! Do not buy any extended warranty! They do not stand behind there word and don't give a s**t about you once they have your money!
