I received a flyer in my change of address packet from the united states postal service on or around September of 2013.

The flyer from BB&T stated a bonus of $125 for opening a new checking account online before January 2014, furthermore to receive the bonus you would need to make at least three online bill pays in the amount of $15 each, or establish direct deposits.

I opened a new checking account with BB&T the beginning of October, shortly after I established online bill pays in order to meet the $125 bonus requirements.

By February I had not received my bonus and I called BB&T to find out the status, they informed me there was no bonus established with my account and I would need to speak with the branch where my account was opened.  I informed them I opened the account online.  I was then informed that I would need to wait until the end of February for the bonus to arrive.

March 11th I still did not receive my bonus so I called for the status and they said that they have submitted my bonus and I should receive it in the day, if not I should call back in 2 days.

March 14th still not receiving my $125 bonus I called to inquire the status yet again, this time the gentleman was again unable to locate any bonus associated with my account, after waiting on hold for over an hour he said he was able to find it, then transferred me to another department where they could not find the bonus either.

After some time on the phone with the new department they said that of my 9 online bill pays only 7 of them were for the required $25 or more and that only 2 of those fell within 90 days of opening the account, so they will not be giving the $125 bonus.

When I explained the $125 I signed up for was for $15 online bill pays, she became very rude and said they never had that, when I asked for a supervisor she refused.

I have never dealt with such rude hostility from any bank in my life.


Perhaps I made a mistake, I can deal with that, but the ethics of treating customers like this is unthinkable.
