Briggs and Baker claims to repair your credit history by negotiating with your credit card companies to eliminate your debt. This is a scam!! In 2001 and 2002, Briggs and Baker aired radio ads on Los Angeles radio stations, promising to eliminate your debt because the credit card companies were worried about the bad economy and terrorist threats as a result of 9/11.

Briggs and Baker promised to eliminate my debt - with a one-time payment of 11% of the existing balance amount. And my fee to Briggs and Baker was 20% of the existing balance amount. I also paid a fee of 5% of the existing balance amount to their attorney, Nelson Ross Boylan, who "invented" some kind of program called "Accord and Satisfaction." All in all, Briggs and Baker promised that I could eliminate my credit card debt for only 36% of the existing balance.

I now know that Briggs and Baker failed to negotiate any type of appropriate settlement with my credit card companies. And there are many other people out there like me. There are over 200 reports filed against Briggs and Baker through the Better Business Bureau (www.bbbsouthland.org). There are also over 50 lawsuits filed against Briggs and Baker.

As of December 2002, Briggs and Baker and its president, Todd Baker, has reincarnated themselves as DRS- Debt Resolution Specialists (www.resolvemydebt.com). They have aired radio commercials, as well as tv ads, all promising to eliminate your debt (it's not debt reduction or debt consolidation- it's Debt Elimination- to paraphrase their commercial).

Don't be fooled. DRS is the same company as Briggs and Baker. Despite having lost numerous court cases, Briggs and Baker claims that they are unable to pay out the judgments. Why? Because they are spending that money on radio and tv advertising to get more clients under their DRS business.

Please, please be careful when dealing with this company, either Briggs and Baker or DRS. The information contained in the other reports are true- the California Department of Corporations has filed a "Cease and Desist" Order against Briggs and Baker. The California Attorney General's office has filed a fraud lawsuit against Briggs and Baker. There are more than 50 lawsuits out there that have been filed against Briggs and Baker (the majority of which have been filed in the Newhall/Valencia court). You can go to the court and ask them for a print out of all the court cases that have been filed against Briggs and Baker/Todd Baker/Darrin Baker/Darren Albrecht/Jack Briggs/Ernesto Melo.
