I responded to a job posting online, and was contacted and interviewed with Shaun Knapp the recruiter at the company. Shaun told me all this good stuff about the position he said they had all these inbound calls and fresh leads. Said I would make big commissions and become a series 65 licensed financial advisor on the other side of the wall. I attended training with a completely incompetent trainer whole also happens to be the President of this company (Shawn Burdick) many of us wondered what the heck was going on but okay. The building is a converted warehouse with cheap cubicles and bathrooms. Once we got on the phones after training the truth began coming out. The calls were hardly there and they forced everyone to become outbound telemarketers. The people calling in from the radio ads are driving, you can’t hear them because they are distracted and they are hardly interested in a financial advisor because they are poor as crap and too dumb to know better. Then the so called commission which becomes nothing are based on you cost per enrollment (this is confusing but okay). Knapp told me that we could work as much overtime as possible but what he didn’t say was if you work overtime you forfeit your commission. The pay plan is very complex, I asked Tim Amerson the sales director to explain the pay plan to me more in detail and he was confused. Pay is 11.08hr or not $14hr but is if you don’t get 20 sales per month then your cost enrolments is higher and they will fire you immediately, write you up over and over. Then on top of this if the customer service department pisses the customer off and they cancel then you are held liable for those sales being lost. If customer service fails to contact the customer and lose the sale then it’s still your fault. They send out these cancellation emails showing countless account cancellations daily. The bottom line is you will never make commissions just your hourly and they will pocket your commissions for themselves. Now, let’s talk about the schedule they don’t care if you have other arrangements they mix up your schedule on a rotation system. They told me I was going to become a financial advisor and I don’t see that happening. The meetings are negative they have this guy Bob- Robert Boyd iii the COO who everyone hates and I see why, he’s nothing but a car salesman who need to go back and sell cars. I heard he couldn’t pass the series 65 or the insurance test why is he telling us what to do and how to sell this is not a car lot. Everyone is leaving and walking out. The people running this place must be the dumbest people on earth. To show how dumb they are they have an in house attorney here muscle poor little helpless and powerless employees out of their commission money. I quit my job to start working here and now I am out of luck and regret it! I will be walking out soon. They lied to us and now they are angry because we are intelligent enough through the bs. It’s not our fault they don’t have the know how to manage this company. They are so caught up in their unprofessional pettiness and egotism that there company is going sour. Can anyone direct me to a real company with real leaders? Out of all the people working for them they only have a few who has been there from the start maybe three, ebveryone else are new. Big red flag!

Both the previous two reports are accurate regarding Broadsword and its "services" .Student loans can be done for free and the details mentioned by the previous employee of Broadsword Student Advantage is also precise and spot on. Regarding Student loan forgiveness, it CAN BE DONE FOR FREE....depending on which program youre applying for, there is a form to fill out. Outside of that, youll just need your last years income 1040 or paychck stub and a couple of personal references. All that is  sent to the Department of Education and / or your loaning collection agency.

So Basically, youre paying Broadsword $600 dollars to MERELY collect a couple of documents FROM YOU, fill out ONE or two forms for you, and mail it off.  Not to mention, the "RETAINER" fee they try to tack on during the sale of their service. I ask though, what EXACTLY are you paying for with the additional $30-50 dollars PER MONTH youre paying them after the packet  is completed and is sent off. Are they REALLY providing you a ACTIVE service each and every month , NOPE ...So they sign you up on one of the GOVERNMENT (Dept of Education)  25 year INCOME based programs (which mind you IS FREE to you provided by the goverment).

So for 25 years years,  youre supposed to  pay 30 -50 dollars EVERY month. So over 25 years, youve paid Broadsword appx $15,000. Does that even make sense ? you paid them $15,000 over the course of that time, for basically mailing a initial packet in and filing a ONE time a year income verification form, which takes you 10 minutes to do yourself (only once a year, what are they doing the other 11 months of the year for 500 bucks to them EVERY yr). Not to mention, youre working off the assumption that this company will be around for 25 years.

Lets say you decide to pay $6000 to them for retainer fees for 10 years, and they disaasemble as a a company...and you have to file a income verfication form on your own (once a year), youll start to realize why in the heck did you pay them $6000 for those first 10 years. Youre banking on the fact this company will be around for 10 -25 years to begin with to utilize their services. So what EXTRA advantage does Broadsword have over you if you filed for your own forgiveness program ? NONE. Do they have direct channels of contact with the department of education that you dont have, NO.

Do they work as a govrnment subsidiary , NO. Are they government related, NO.  Do they have specialists who deal strictly with the collection agencies, NO. Do they have EXTRA advantages  and negotiation specialists that will better your chances of getting accepted with a specific forgiveness program, NO !! They merely fill out a form for you and send it to the depertment of education for you. GO ahead and read their segment on student loans on their website www.broadswordadvantage.com..READ between the lines, and youll realize everything I said, they repeat in more of a subtle and SALES related manner.

"We will packet all this for you as quick as you can send it in"...so basically youre doing the bulk of the work, consoldiating all the documents so they can SEND it in for you. Now how about the operation itself....just go ahead and read what the previous employee said about the company. Ill add a couple things to what was already mentioned. So this company is run by a guy who owned a DEBT SETTLEMENT company before it went defunct...bc the SEC and FTC shut him down , due to him not providing ANYTHING or any services promised to potential clients that also paid him a upfront $299, and realized after several months, NOTHING was being done regarding their debt settlement.

Want some background....here you go , go google "former dextral managing director". So how do we know its still run by the same corrupt managing partners, check the addresses of the former address of broadsword, and youll notice its the same address as DEXTRAL  / EFC Processing debt settlement (in fisco texas), before broadsword moved to their current location in Carrolton Texas a couple months back. Go Google "broadsword student advantage sells people student loan help they can get for free", and click on the article. Match the addresses...so bascially youve paid the managing partners of Broadsword Advantage $600 dollars, when you know they already had run a debt settlement company into the ground bc of fraudulent activities, PREYING on already financially strapped clients who were seeking their help (like yourself).

How do you know he / broadsword will even be around for even a couple more years to service that "retainer" fee they ask of you during their sales pitch on the phone. You want prior complaints from customers straight from this site, google "debtxs ripoff" or "EFA processing ripoff", and read the infinite # of complaints from former clients who got dooped out of their money from the same owner of broadsword. As for potential employees of broadword, be wary. THey promise alot, and deliver little. You are literally on the chopping block and possibly fired week to week, not even month to month.

Ask the current  employees you sit with when youre in training or are hired and see if they have more good than bad things to say about the company.  THe average stay for any employee is JUST 1 month, be it if they are terminated or quit on their own . If broadsword really cared for their clients, they would hire more customer service agents and NOT sales agents trying to push their product. Apparently they bring in about 1100 new clients per month on student loans, only to try to manage that workload with the current customer service staff, yet continue to hire ONLY for  their sales department staff to bring in more $$$$...its all about the $$$ with them, not client and customer priority.  

Shouldnt it be the other way around ? more clients should equal more customer service agents who work your student loan cases (that goes to show how simple it is to file your own student loans, if they can bring in over 1000 new clients per month and not have to hire new customer service staff). .. but they prefer to continue to just keep hiring sales agents. Alot of times, when a sales agent quits broadsword, their clients they enrolled tends to get lost in the shuffle. You dont know who your point of contact is anymore, you get shuffled around within the customer service side, and frustration sets in.  

Also , their hiring advertisment pitch  (on craiglist  / if youre reputable company and sanctioned by the SEC , why r u hiring on craiglist) to which they sell you on the idea they will convert you into a Financial Planner after working as a sales agent, so much as paying and sponsoring you to take the series 65 test to become a financial advisor...comical at best and laughable.  Talk to ANY current employee that has been here a few months and see if they have even SEEN ONE person get converted over to the financial planning department. THey keep telling /  pitching the idea that the sales agent with the MOST SALES will get to head over to the financial planning side.

When did SALES convert to becoming a genuine and good financial planner ? do you want a solid financial planner from FIDELITY, or one that was brought on because they can SELL student loans ? hmmmm.... You have a total of 2-4 financial planners over in the Financial Planning dept, without even a finance degree as ive heard, who are SUPPOSSED to be handling over 6000 or more clients everyday (wouldn’t you need more than 4 financial planners for 6000 PLUS clients, yet no one is transferred over to the finance dept)... Is this the RETAINER fee youre paying for (?), to get a few mintues with a random financial planner at AFFORDABLE LIFE PLANS.

I dont think the SEC would be happy to know that the reason Broadsword is operational is because they have to be sponsored and run through by Affordable LIFE PLANS, their "sister company". FOr those broadsword clients, when you receive a contract  to enroll. notice there is NOTHING barely mentioned about student loans in it...its all about financial planning and Affordable Life Plans...WHY ? hmmmmm....I dont think the SEC would be happy to know both companies are divided by merely a wall either, ALL under the same roof and former warehouse...go ahead and google "safeguard recovery ripoff" for even more insight...CONNECT the dots

Do Your Loans Yourself For Free

I called a 1 800 radio ad # for student loan forgiveness spoke with a man about my loans it sounded amazing at that time because one of my loan was defaulted, I felt rushed into signing their online contract. My uncle reviewed the contract & asked me if I was lured in with the radio ad for student loan forgiveness and switched into signing up for a money back guarantee financial adviser which after studying closely became complex & really not in my best interest. He suggested having my student loans done with a company that handle student loans only or use fed loan servicing directly.  My uncle was nice enough to give me this site www.suzeorman.com for financial advice free and said my bank will also advise me. With my bank I know who I am dealing with and can see their license, why I would want to pay an out of state company $6,000+ over time that might not be in business. After better research we found the people running this company also ran many other companies that are now closed or out of business. I put two & two together, realized if a financial institution hire their employees from Craigslist how can I trust them with my financial future. I immediately thought of ‘The show American Greed’ this how companies scam innocent people that are struggling. I called & they answered as broadsword advantage also advertise getforgiven.org & the contract sent over to me to sign showed affordable life plan would submit my loans to department of education, we smelled a dead rat. If you feel like you are being deceived or lured in and switched call this number (202) 551-4790 and voice your concern.  

I hurried & called them back & tried to cancel was given the run around so I cancelled my credit card, and asked them not to send anymore emails to my work. NEVER PAY ON THE SPOT, NEVER GIVE YOU SSN, NEVER GIVE YOUR PIN NUMBER! I was able to do my own student loan consolidation for free; it does not matter if your loans are in default or not you can still apply on your own.  I will renew them every twelve months on my own, I don’t need this company. Anyone can do the same thing that they do, call this number (1-800-4-FED-AID) and they will guide you & you can call them as many times as you need to ask questions. You can use your current pay annually or last years adjusted income.   Here’s everything you will need.
