Jeremy Roetzer of Buffalo Chips took our Dell laptop for repairs and returned a similar model that was falling apart to us. The police wouldn;t take action as Dell's do not have a serial number. We sued him in small claims and had witnesses to testify that they knew it wasn't our laptop. We were awarded a judgement against him.

Unfortunately when he appealed we had moved and the mail didn't get to us so he got away with it. We would have hired a lawyer to represent us, just on the principle. The man STOLE our computer. We wish there had been a Lojack locator in the laptop. The police would have arrested him.

Yes, Small Business Owner.

"I'm not disputing your rebuttal about the small claims issue. I'm asking about the legality of your so called small business you claim to own. ALL legitimate businesses are required to have a tax idenitification number and be registered with the NYS Department of State. This requirement is for all; Inc., LLC, DBA's etc.

I don't see your 'business' listed-please explain."

Taken form the NYS Department of State Division of Corporations website:

"All other entities such as general partnerships, sole proprietorships and limited liability partnerships file an assumed name certificate directly with the county clerk in each county in which the entity conducts or transacts business."

I am a sole proprietorship and would not be listed on that site since I'm not a corporation, not for profit corporation, limited partnership, limited liability company or limited liability partnership.

Small Business Owner?

""First of all I would like to start off by saying that my computer business is my livelihood, and any small business owner knows you don't risk that by blatantly stealing something from a customer. It's ridiculous to think that I would do what I'm being accused of for an old laptop worth a few hundred dollars.""

Are you really a small business owner in NY? If so, why is it that BuffaloChips Computer Services is NOT LISTED with the NY Department of State as ALL BUSINESSES are required to be?

Check for yourself at the Department of State website:

BuffaloChips Response

Wow, these people are still at it trying to ruin my businesses otherwise perfect reputation.

First of all I would like to start off by saying that my computer business is my livelihood, and any small business owner knows you don't risk that by blatantly stealing something from a customer. It's ridiculous to think that I would do what I'm being accused of for an old laptop worth a few hundred dollars.

Now....lets review some details.

Bill Hogan's and Gayle Sergi's main argument for their case is that the laptop in question, a Dell Inspiron e1505, does not have a white strip around its outer perimeter, but the laptop they received back from me did.

The Inspiron e1505 comes in one and only one style, with a white strip around its perimeter. That's it, plain and simple.

Here is a link to a high-res picture of the laptop from the Dell website: http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/corporate/imagebank/notebooks/insp_e1505_300.jpg

Here is a link from archive.org showing the cached configuration page for the laptop dated 04/24/2006. As you can see there is no color option for the laptop: http://web.archive.org/web/20060424104950/configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&oc=E1505SP1&s=dhs

On top of the evidence above, I contacted Dell customer support just to be sure and asked if it was possible to get the e1505 without a white strip. They confirmed that it was not.

I could go on and on, but I think the evidence above is more than enough to prove that Bill Hogan and Gayle Sergi's claim is completely and utterly false.

Oh and if you're wondering who this Gayle Sergi is, she is the actual owner of the laptop, Bill Hogan is her boyfriend. I picked up and dropped off the laptop to Gayle at her workplace when it needed service. Since dropping it off I have not once communicated with Gayle. She did not even show up to the initial court case even though her name was listed first on the court paperwork.
