The sales tactics at the Cabo Villas Beach Resort go well beyond simple puffery to outright lies.  After learning about the lies of their sales staff, resort ownership refuses to do anything to remedy the lies or to stop them, apparently believing that a sale secured by lying to potential clients is better than not getting the sale.

Salesman Jerry crafted a very successful sales technique, unfortunately built upon a series of lies.  He first claimed that he didn’t work for the developer’s sales department but normally worked for a separate division of the development company that booked travel vacations for Expedia and other travel companies.  As a part of this, he really wanted us to “give him” all six of our bonus weeks so he could use them for his Expedia customers booking fishing trips which he could then turn over to the sales staff for timeshare sales presentations.  By doing this he guaranteed us that we would be able to net $1,090 per week for each of the six bonus weeks.

After the fact, it appears that he works for the time share sales department, not a separate division of the owner who works with Expedia and other travel companies.  The Developer said he thought that Jerry might have some sort of a side deal with another company not related to the Developer who might work with travel companies.   Additionally Jerry also lied about cruise certificates from Global Adventures.  Jerry mad a major sales pitch about the fact that the membership with Global Adventures would entitle us to two cruises per year at a cost of $500.00 each cruise and that these Certificates could be used by us, sold or given away.  There was no restriction on the time or destination for the cruises.  Additionally, our daughter would also get one cruise certificate per year, with the only restriction being that she could not sell it for profit.  The reality is of course substantially different.  The reality was that there were only two cruise certificates total and that both of these were for three day Mexican Riviera cruises both of which must be used in 2011 and which were limited in availability and time.

After learning about the misrepresentations and outright lies by their sales person, the Developer said that they would try to rent the bonus weeks for us and that after their commission, taxes and paying the maintenance fee, that we might make $100.00 per week.  The Developer apparently was unwilling to take any action against the sales person, preferring profits over integrity.   The project itself is not a bad project and is well located, you simply can’t believe anything that the sales staff says.

It is always best to hire someone skilled to do so, unfortunately in most cases these companies dedicated to cancel timeshares usually cheat for the second time to their customers since they are vulnerable and desperate. If you are thinking of hiring them you just have to make sure you do not have to make any payment upfront ... I found these articles that speak precisely about this, you should read them, that might help you to resolve many doubts:
