CAMCO Harrassing people with same last name in little town of Meshoppen, PA.


This is regarding a collection company called CAMCO, (ripoff collectors). My husband whom I just married in 2000, had a debt in 1989 or 1990 (before I met him). He used a credit card to pay for blockages (5) in his arteries and than could not pay the credit card back, because he couldn't work.

At that time he was single and alone and probably did not realize that he could of had the state help him, Anyway, last week he received a call from a "CAMCO" employee, Paul Rothman, he stated that if my husband sent them $800.00 dollars that the bad debt would be paid in full.Then he received a letter from them stating that he owed aproximately $9,000.00. He didn't realize that he was being scammed.

Since that call my husband has received 3 letters and each letter states that he owes more and more. My husband really does not know exactly how much he owed. He did not know that there are laws with the Statue of Limitations. It has been 13 years. I was not home when he recieved the call. I told him not to speak to them.

Since then my son (step-son of my husband) has received calls and they have been nasty ones, and my daughter received a call(step-daughter to my husband), and when she said he was not living there, Mr. Rothman argued with her and also told her who does she think she's talking to her Dad. He called back 5 minutes later stating that he called my husband's work to verify his home phone number, she said your not allowed to do that. She did remember his name Paul Rothman and that he got very nasty with her, but she told him straight back that he could not do that and not to call again and hung up.

Last week we got our phone number changed to a unlisted phone number and since then, this man "Paul Rothman employee of CAMCO, Capital Acquisition Management Co., P.O. Box 5087 Rockford, Illinois 61125-0087 (866) 745-5420 Ext. 4022", has contacted just about every C####' number that is listed in the white pages with a Meshoppen, PA number, Insisting that they know who my husband is and yes some were relatives(two numbers were his sons) but other's who knew my husband were quite shocked that this man was giving them a hard time and insisting that these people tell my husband to pay his debt. This is very confidential and this man has broken all the rules, Is there something I can say or do?
