Candice Roach Love Your Cake scam Vancouver Internet

I had no idea how to make a complaint against this woman since she essentially runs her cake baking business out of her own home, which honestly probably should have been the first red flag to me that, despite how good her cakes looked and despite the positive things I has heard about her as well as the fact that she has baked cakes for local celebrities such as the Vancouvee Canucks, something just wasn't quite right here.

In 2013 I ordered a cake from Candice for my SIL. It was her birthday the following week and I asked Candice if that would be too short of notice. She told me no, I paid for half of the cake, and she also had me send over photos and a list of things my SIL enjoyed so that she could "get a feel" of what she is like and "bake her the perfect cake."

Fast forward to 1 day before my SIL birthday, I get an email from Candice telling me she was going out of town with her friends and would not be able to complete said cake on time. Given the fact that I had made sure to ask her if 1 week was too short of time and she told me no, I did not think it would be an issue. I was angry as I wanted to have a special cake made for my SIL rather than a picked up from the grocery store type, which I ultimately had to do. My niece and I also baked her cupcakes on our own.

I did get my down payment back from Candice, so money was not an issue, but I wouldn't call this cake baker reliable. If you want to spend decent money on a decent cake then you probably are better off picking one up at your grocery store or bakery. At least you know they're legitimate and can be trusted.
