In december 2015 i was hired to do Dj a staff Christmas Party at the Toronto Venue "Candyland"
Payment was supposed to be within 10 business days. The Venue did not respond to any of my messages following up after a month and a half. I tracked down the owner and messaged his personal facebook asking if he knew anything.
Got a story of "Hey sorry changes with managment and things got lost in the mix" asked me to send him another invoice and i did that promplty.
2 Months later still no payment and no responces.
Time to know a scam when it hits you in the face but i thought i'd give him benefit of the doubt.
Word on the street is they owe a bunch of money and some other dj's have also yet to be paid.
The event i ran was an absolute success from my side as a vendor and the client was extremely happy so there is no reason to hold payment. The Venue however ran out of food and alcohol almost 2 hours before the event end time.
If anyone is looking for a venue i do NOT suggest this place. Not based on the fact that they didnt pay me. But do you really want to host a party at a place that can't accomodate simple needs like food and alcohol....what kind of a club runs out of alcohol. Obviously corners would cut.
Djs, Bands and vendors in general if you do decide to work with this establisment PLEASE make sure you get paid upfront as obviously a contract does not mean anything to these guys.

Also found out that they actually charged the client DOUBLE what i am owed.

It Seems that this report has been filed in haste.
The Venue was CLOSED for renovations during the time we were trying to reach out to them. When we finally got through to the owner they messaged us back PROMPTLY and he called us right away to sort out the situation. It seems the person we talked to the first time did not communicate properly and is no longer with this establisment.
As far as the schematics on the venue running out of food or drinks that was entirley on the client. They had a budget set that the venue went OVER to try and accomodate them but unfortunatly this was not enough seeing that they had more guests then they said they were gonna have.
Again i was the Dj in question and i can tell you this venue is more then capable of handling a corporate party or a private party and they have an amazing, live show that you have to check out.
I have a couple of friends that dj and play live music there and they have never had a problem with payment.
Unfortunatly the rip off report does not remove reports which is unfair when someone gets angry and decides to take it on themselves and think they are doing me a favor by issuing something like this.
I want to be Clear, i was the vendor in question and i have no problems with this venue. This report should be taken down and i am working on that.
PLEASE ignore everything in the original post as this is not far and a typical example of when someone who is angry takes to the internet to try and solve their claims.
