Capital Acquisition & Management (CAMCO) Collection Agency Ripoff Ft. Lauderdale/Rockford Florida/Illinois

I too have been contacted repeatedly by CAMCO (Capital Acquisition & Management Company). I have sent demand letters to both physical addresses I have found for the company as well as the registered agent for Illinois and the person listed as the owner on Florida's state website. The owner is listed there as being Eric Woldoff and his address is listed as 19333 Collins #2509, Sunny Isles Beach, FL 33160. The registered agent in Illinois is Jeffrey Garrington, 303 N. Main St., Rockford, IL 61101.

This company purchased very old debts, sometimes 15 or 20 years old, and tries to collect on them. They try to get what they think they can get. Usually they have only paid pennies on the dollar for the right to collect the debt. For example, a $2000 debt might have cost them $20 to acquire. If the statute of limitations has expired, they cannot collect. That will vary by state. If the debt is off your credit report and is very old, you should send a letter to the company's addresses as well as the owner and registered agent demanding that they stop contacting you. Copy the state attorney general if you like, of inform them that this will be your next step if they do not cease and desist from their harrassment.
