Capital Acquisitions & Management Company Camco Attempted Ripoff Scam Rockford Illinois

On January 27, 2004, I received a phone call from Ms. Carrie Blaine who stated she was an account manager with Capital Acquisitions & Management Company. Ms. Blaine assured me that she was not attempting to sell me anything and informed me that she would never ask for a person's social security number over the telephone. Ms. Blaine then asked me if the last four digits of my Social Security number was _ _ _ _ (which were the last four digits of my card). Ms. Blaine then read off my entire social security number and gave me the addresses of an apartment I lived at over 20 years ago and a home I lived at over 26 years ago, in another state.

Ms. Blain's tone of voice changed abruptly (rude) when she informed me that I had taken out a Chase Manhatten Bank Master Card in 1984 and had charged up over $6,328.00 in purchases. Ms. Blaine informed me that the interest on the account had really compounded over all those years and that I now owe them (Camco) over $16,000.00. As you might imagine, I was really shocked to hear that. While sitting stunned at what she had said, Ms. Blaine changed her voice tone again and became really nice. It was during this time that she told me that she could settle my account for only $3,500.00.

I've always maintained an excellent credit history. I have never possessed (or used) a Chase Manhattan Bank Master Card. When I informed Ms. Blaine of this she stated that she had checked my current credit report and had noticed my good standing and the amount of credit I had available. Ms. Blaine went on to state that all of us fall upon bad times at some point and that we all have had bad credit at some time. I repeatedly informed (at least 25 times during our conversation) Ms. Blaine that I had never possessed a Chase Master Card and had never missed making a payment on any credit account I've ever held.

Speaking with Ms Blaine was like speaking to a brick wall (a really stupid brick wall). Ms. Blaine refused to consider that I could be correct and that her records (from chase bank)could be wrong. After about 25 minutes of arguing and yelling at her, I told her that _ _ _ _ would freeze over and the people there would be served ice cream and cake before I would ever pay even one cent on an account that I never held. An upset Ms. Blaine ended our phone conversation by stating she would mark the account' refused to pay.

I'm glad that I decided to surf the net to see if there was any information on Camco. The thugs at this company are really good at what they are doing. They are clearly working from prepared scripts. I'll be ready for them if they ever call me again.
