Capital One Bank ripoff dishonest fraudulent billing Charlotte North Carolina

I initally received a Capital One credit card in 2002. I made regular payments until we lost almost one half of our income,and I had to undergo surgery. Our account was turned over to a law firm,and we paid monthly,though at times ,it was a real struggle. We had paid off approximately 1/2 of our debt,when we stopped hearing from the law firm. Our money seemed to be going down a dark hole. Around this time,I became disabled,and was unable to work. It took ten months to start receiving my disability payments,and we missed three payments. Our account was then turned over to another firm,and we were told that we owed more than twice the original bill. Today, I received an affadavit requesting information before trial. We admit our culpability,but we want to continue monthly payments,and we do not want to pay almost twice the amount we owe. Capital One refuses to talk to us,and the law firm is not interested. Needless to say,our credit is ruined.
