I had a Capitol One credit card from Jan of 2004 until April 2007. When i got the card i signed up for the payment protection program for security purposes incase i ever lost my job and could not afford to pay my bill.

In 2006 the worst happened and I lost my job. I called the capitol one payment protection number on the back of my card and reported this. I asked some questions about my situation and at the end of the conversation was told that it may take a couple of months to reflect on my bill BUT MY PAYMENT PROTECTION WOULD KICK IN AND THAT I WOULD BE FINE. I would not have any fees, my monthly payment would be taken care of. THEY LIED!

After 6 MONTHS of getting bills from them that had late fees and now over limit fees, payment protection never kicked in. Within that 6 months I also called capitol one EVERY MONTH and questioned why my payment protection was not reflecting? I was told by customer service that it was "still being processed but not to worry, my credit would not be affected and that it will be taken care of"

In April 2007 i received another bill that said 6 MONTHS BEHIND. I called again and this time was on the phone for OVER 2 hours trying to figure out what was going on. I spoke to customer service, managers, fraud department and the payment protection department.

In the end the gentleman from payment protection said that someone there must have made a mistake and that he will look into it and get it fixed. That it may take at least 30 days, but they will call me. About a month later, i received a letter from LITLOW LAW OFFICE IN IOWA. They were now acting upon Capitol One.

I called the law office and told them that i am disputing this and gave them all of the information as to why and requested that they look into this.

Now in DECEMBER 2007 i get a letter saying that they "verified" the debt. Not looked into their clients negligence, but verified that there is a debt. Well no crap there is a debt, unfortunately what they are stating is wrong. I was served papers today to go to court. I wrote the law office (ONCE AGAIN) telling them that I dispute this.

DO NOT TRUST CAPITOL ONE BANK. They claim that they have a payment protection program incase you loose your job, you will be covered. IT'S A LIE! They say that so that they can collect more money from you. They advertise that "your covered", THEY LIE! Your not covered. You can make your claim and call the number on the back of the "special" payment protection card, But somehow claims are not filed, they say they will look into or investigate it and then screw you because of their negligence!!!!!!!!!!!!!
