I am fresh out of high school and moved to Iowa for college, so I really don't know to much about car. Come on what girl do, especially being only 19 years old. Well I went to Carhop because I needed a car, and needed one fast. So I goes to car hope show them my information and told them I had $350 to put down but when I kept getting phone calls before evening moving here they told me it would be $100 for a down payment. But anyways so I get my car and my payment are $93 a week starting April 6th when I bought my car March 23. And so I get my tags in the mail and they are EXPIRED because my birthday is April 15. Which is dumb.? But I go get my tags done. Then I call them to schedule my payments every 2weeks which they said it would be 187 Bi weekly. And told me this would help my credit which it was doing good at first until I call them and told them I had to work until 6pm and wouldn't be able to bring my payment until the next morning. They told me NO, they would need my payment by 6pm in order to keep me driving because there is a device and my car that will turn my car off if i didn't turn in my payment. Sooo then I goes to a dealer ship who told me they can't get me into a NEWER car because the amount Carhop is charging me TRIPLE THE AMOUNT the car is actually worth and no Dealership or Carlot will pay that much for a car that old for the amount they are charging especially with the car facts scores. I am paying almost 12,000-13,000 for a 2003 300M Chrysler Speical that has 150,000 something miles on it. I swear if there is anyone out their that think they can help me out of this situation. I really appreciate it. I am only 19 years old and don't wanna be stuck in this car forever. The guy at the dealer said I should fight this using the "Fair & Truth Lending Act"

It’s a tough lesson

You may want to consider mailing in your payments a few days prior to the due date.

Just a few minutes of online research indicates that you are paying 200% over market value for that car. It’s a tough lesson, but in a free market economy merchants have the right to price their merchandise or services at any price they desire regardless of market pricing. Consumers have the right to accept or decline the merchandise or services.

The Truth in Lending Act requires full disclosure of finance terms but has nothing to do with the principal amount of a loan.
