Cardinal of Middlefield,Ohio the main transporter for KRAFTMAID CABINETRY, terminated my contract immediatly upon finding out I had recieved a bogus moving violation in ohio for following to close. I appeared in court and got the ticket reduced to a taillight infraction, but Cardinal would not reinstate the contract.

I was leasing my truck through their "in house" account with penske truck leasing, which they charged me for an extra week of rental after my termination(630 dollars). Then they back charged me over 600 dollars for fictitious damage to a previous rental truck. I got less than half of my 3000 dollar escrow back, and when I called them to inquire about the charges, I was told by "melanie" that she didn't need to hear my S%IT. I got hung up on.

I was forced to incorporate my business to contract here. I was forced to take whatever loads they offered me. I was forced to end my weeks early when "the other guys didn't get enough miles". I was forced to accept a one page settlment sheet with no way of knowing what Cardinal was charging KRAFTMAID CABINETRY for freight or fuel surcharge. I suspect they are skimming some of the fuel surcharge for themselves.

I was forced to jump through whatever hoops that Cardinal of Middlefield, Ohio would concoct.if you didnt jump, your contract would be cancelled. Other guys' contracts were terminated for parking in a shopping mall, or refusing to go over their hours of service rule, after a big snow that delayed us by 10 or more hours. Towards the end they were all slow months, never over 2200 miles a week.

After being in trucking for 21 years, I can tell you for sure: don't sign on with Cardinal logistics, especially the middlefield, Ohio / Kraftmaid Cabinetry branch. I was put out on the street for an alleged violation that I beat, and it cost me thousands in lost revenue, and i had to suspend my business and go work somewhere else.

Incidentally, after I was terminated, another contractor rolled a trailer over for Cardinal/Kraftmaid. Because there was no police citation, he was re-instated after a brief investigation by Cardinal. I get canned for an alleged violation, this other contractor gets to stay. When asked why, Cardinal middlefield will tell you, and I quote Joe Richardson, and Sara Ramey, :"" well, there was more to that particular contractor getting terminated than we can discuss with you""

If you think I'm kidding, than go ahead and sign on with them. Ask about "porkchop" and they'll say "well there was more to that particular contractor...." was there?
Was there? Lease on here and find out for yourself.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

To bad so sad Mr. Porkchop

Lets see, first of all you wer handed an exceptional opportunity.  You were bascially given a hand out to start your own sucessfull company.  I can completely understand why you are the victim, because nothing was your fault, not to mention the entire time you were there you never had anything nice to say about anyone.

From a business perspective there were rules and regulations you had to follow.  Many of which you slacked in doing.  As for the following to close, no you werent convicted of it, but you were guilty in the first place.  When I was a contracted there, I didnt agree with a few things and I'm sure noone does, its not a perfect world.

As to the response about the incorporating, yes it was a requirement to maintain your contract with cardinal, but on the other hand, by doing so you protected yourself and your interests.

I DONOT feel bad for you, because you got what you deserved.

#2 UPDATE Employee

You knew the rules and violated them

I've been at Cardinal for 11yrs. So I know how things work and they don't, Let's just go through your statements and make it clear.

1-Tail gating is automatic termination, it can lead to a rear end accident. Getting it reduced makes no difference, that is like being guilty of attempted murder and getting it reduced to assault. Following to close as a professional driver, you should know better, you have a responsibility to the public on the road to hold yourself to a higher standard.

2-You filled out an inspection of the truck when you picked it up, when it's turned in they inspect it and that is plain and simple. If it wasn't broke when you picked it up it shouldn't be when you turn it in.

3-They didn't charge you an extra week, the settlements are always 2 weeks behind so you actually got one week free.

4-No one is forced to incorporate here. Cardinal has reduced rates we allow the contractor to access, you can do it here for 250 or go get it yourself for 1000.

5-As a contractor, not employee, we are dispatching loads to your company, we try to be fair with the miles and stops so each driver balances our work load.

6- your settlement sheet contains rates we charge you, it has nothing to do with what we charge our customer. Do you ask Walmart what they pay for a TV before they sell it to you?

7-There is definately more to your story...sounds to me like you were a loud mouth and "never did anything wrong" but more likely always unhappy.

8-Making accusation of theft from skimming is a dangerous statement especially in a public open forum...lucky they aren't suing you for slander without basis.

Just pass the word on to everyone> STAY AWAY FROM THEM. I considered a lawsuit against them,, but I have little money and less time. Sue for my contract back? No thanks. This is a far better way to get justice: to save you from signing on with them. Fortunate for me, I found a good job driving someone elses truck. For now. Others I know of were not so fortunate. One guy I know of at cardinal had an engine blow on his "in house lease purchase truck" long story short, he had to re-mortgage his house to pay for the engine. Others were charged thousands for rear ends and transmissions on Penske rental trucks that Cardinal had determined to be "driver abuse". They just seem to make up the rules as they go along to suit their needs. One last footnote, the ficticious damage to a previous unit I referred to earlier, it was a hairline crack in the plastic front grill. You see, I had hit a DEER with that truck, and, at my own expense, $2,158.87, had the bumper and fender replaced. I was afraid to return the truck in damaged condition for fear of my contract being cancelled. {the penske repair estimate was $3000+Labor,} I saved a few bucks, and had they not cancelled my contract, they would have NEVER charged me for that ficticious repair to that chrome grill. But since they wanted as much of my $3000 escrow that they could steal, up comes this bogus charge. I am sorry to take so much of your time to read all this, but it was important for me to post all of this, so you may be able to pass it on to someone on the CB or in a truckstop. Guaranteed all true. Count on me, Porkchop. DONT SIGN ANYTHING, STAY CLEAR! ok thanks.
