CarMD Purchased CarMD Dec 2010 used 1 time. After 1 year and 9 months CarMD won't turn on. Internet

I purchased CarMD from HSN in Dec 2010. Used it one time. Put in pouch and put in my glove compartment. Today (Oct 6, 2012) I went to check my car because it was overheating and I cannot get CarMD to turn-on. I called CarMD and they said they couldn't see my purchase date since I bought it from HSN. I said it may be a year or a bit older. She said the warranty is only for 1 year and to call HSN. I did call HSN and they told me the purchase date Dec 2010. So I got to use CarMD 1 time after paying $120. for it. I would think the device should last longer than 1 year 9 months. I would be very careful buying this device.
