If you are like me and are looking to get some management training fresh out of college. Please!!!!!!!!! Do not step foot into a Catalyst or Cydcorp affiliated company. You will find advertisements on Monster or Craigs list or Career Builder for Entry level sales and marketing positions. You are attracted so you apply for the oppertunity to get some management training. Less than an hour after applying I got a call for an interview.

I'm struggling to find a job so I am psyched. I pull into the parking garage that I end up paying 20 dollars to park for the duration of the interview. While I'm waiting for my interview about 12 different people come in and it looks like they are fresh out of a slayer concert.

I'm thinking am I in the right place there is obviously no prior requirements for this job. And as it turns out they would rather have it that you have no experience so that they can brainwash you and have you running around making s**t for money but loving it. After my first interview, Gil or Gilbert which is his full name convinced me that this was the place for me to get some good training and make a ton of money.

I like everyone else probably got that all important call back for a second interview. I would have to be there at 9 so I left at 7 15 from Bellevue and I again paid 20 dollars for parking and did the day of observation with Joanne who was supposed to be the top salesperson at Catalyst.

I along with a girl who was just hired set out on our day of hell. But first we went to starbucks, I thought I would get some free coffee but no, I paid and Joanne got water. Great. We then piled in her small car and drove to capital hill where she pitched IMS which offers lower transaction rates on Credit Cards to angry Asians and other business owners who wanted nothing to do with us.

Here I was walking around seattle from business to business getting yelled at by some friends who would drive by and ask if I became a disciple or something, and sweating in my new suit. After a shitty 4 hour morning we went and got lunch and I at least thought she would pay for ours but nope I forked over 5 dollars for pizza and she pulled out a balogna sandwhich. I should have just left right then.

We walked about 3 more miles in 90 degree heat and at the end of the day scamed some lady into getting our service and buying something she didn't need but that's the way Joanne makes money. I consider myself pretty smart, Weren't we supposed to be in a management training program not a door to door salesperson selling something so shitty no one wants it.

I grilled Joanne but she just grilled me back with stupid questions that were redundant. And to top it off she sucked at her job and all she could tell me is that she's moving to Portland to make big money but with the balogna sandwhich and the shitty car I could tell she was struggling and to top it off I found out she lives with seven other people from the company in a four bedroom house in kent.

I start thinking that this is slavery. We get back after the day of hell and we take a test to see how much we have been paying attenttion. I don't know any of the answers and make them up but when I meet with Gil he still offers me the job. WHAT THE HELL. Gil seems like a good guy and he's the manager he has some nice threads on and claims he went to Stanford. He tells me to stick around and I won't be doing door to door sales for long.

I figure what the hell, I'll just clean up and make management quick. I grill him about how they get their money because they are still giving me the run around but then he says it Cydcorp is their parent company. I google it that night spelling it sydcorp and find nothing I figure I mispelled it and just go to bed because I have to be there at 7 30 tommorow to start my first day.

I get there for my first day and people are all jolly listening to tupac throwing up westsides and dancing around. We all introduce ourselves and it looks like half the men got their suits at value village but I ignore it. We jump around for an hour congratualting those who scammed money out of people the day before and go over the pitch and "Juice". What ever the hell that means.

Now I am ready for my first full day but I need some coffee but there is no time because I have to go with Tomas and Christine all the way to Lynwood to piss some more business owners off. We pile in christine's car that looks and drives like its going to blow up and go to Highway 99 or Aurora. Tomas tells me how he's been with the company for 6 months and hasn't got promoted and drives a 86 Taurus that broke down on his drive up from California to live in the 8 person house. His shoes have holes and his suit is mismatched. Half way through the day I get pissed, Tomas just bust into businesses and weather they want to hear it or not starts blabbing to owners. He gets his first, I repeat his first application that day after 6 days of working worth 100 dollars and he absolutly conned some undeserving quizno's owner who was only going to save like 5 dollars.

100 dollars for 6 days of working conning people and walking around in heat getting yelled at and stuff throwing at you I don't know how Tomas does it. He worked 56 hours for 100 dollars and then had to give me 30 of it so he got roughly $1 and 15 cents an hour think about that for a second.

That is modern day slavery. When the day was done we went back and clapped and high fived in a circle and talked about the day. This company is a joke and Cydcorp and what ever other companies are invested should be sued for absolutely s**+**y business practices. If have already got an interview and are reading this when you go up to your interview tell them they suck and everyone else to run for their lives.

Thinking outside of the box

AUTHOR: Thinkoutthebox - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 24, 2009

I would like to start by saying that outside sales is a very difficult position that is not intended for everyone. It is hard work that pays off, and you must possess the ability to handle rejection well. Cydcorp, actually, provides sales and marketing solutions for many Fortune 500 companies that provide services and/or products for consumers with better incentives or pricing.
The experience that you described was with Innovative Merchant Solutions a division of Intuit that handles credit card processing. Cydcorp deals with ATT, Verizon, IMS, Moneris, and many other companies for outside sales. This approach works for these big companies, because they do not have to pay an individual daily wages instead they pay only when new customers come in, hence the commission pay.
The Management Training Program actually entails you to start in negotiations with business owners so you can progress and better yourself when it comes to bigger businesses. The opportunity lies in learning and teaching others. How do you manage others or a business without having hands-on experience in "the field" where you negotiate on a daily basis with business owners?
I am an entrepreneur and constantly find new vehicles to pursue my future. I found the opportunity and saw the potential, but quickly learned that this venue was not made for me. Some people deal better than others with 1) rejection, 2) sales, and 3) being disciplined.
With Cydcorp's opportunity in any industry, people should keep in mind PERFORMANCE BASED means if you produce/perform you get paid. I would please ask all not to speak ill of people working hard to make something of themselves. I wouldn't want to be someone flipping burgers at mcdonald's or be the elderly person working at walmart, but I will never speak ill of those opportunities. Why else do businesses have so many departments? Not every position is made for everyone. Not everyone can be the president. Not everyone can be an astronaut. Not everyone wants to be a janitor, but some people do. Respect rather than degrade their hard work.
