*General Comment: But what happens if you cash the check?
I received a letter from C&C services which is identical to one posted earlier; the entry number and five lucky numbers are the same, the file agent and phone number are the same, etc.
Fortunately I suspected this was a fraud and found this website which confirms that it is.

But what happens if you cash the check?

I got the exact same letter, called Sarah Thomas (no answer & mailbox full) and called the number at the top of the letter. The foreign-sounding man was pleasant enough and assured me that there were no strings attached, that cashing the check would incur no obligations on my part.He mostly wondered why I hadn't cashed the check already (I got it over a week ago)
I plan on taking it to my bank vice-president and seeing if it goes through or if he already knows what happens when you try. I have zero plans of DEPOSITING it, in case that somehow gives these people some sort of secret banking info.
I read through all seven reports about this apparent scam, but no one has said what happens if you try to cash the check.
I burn with curiosity (& greed! <grin>)
